‘Pucked Off’ is a heartbreaking, beautiful, sweet and hopeful story.
‘Pucked Off’ is finally out. YEAY! And I don't know for how long I waited this book to come out but here what happened to me on the release day:Me (the night before release day): Yeeehhhuuuuu! I cannot wait to get my hands on ‘Pucked Off’Me (the morning of release day): I cannot wait to get off work, cuddle with my kindle and start readingMe (@ 6 pm on release day): FML! I am stuck at the office (till 1 am) :(Me (@ 2 am on release day): Finally, in my bed and readingYeah I know I sound like a psycho but I couldn’t help myself, I had to read it and couldn’t wait any longer. At the end, I didn’t sleep at all but it was totally worth it. I hope my review can make justice to the book and I don't give away much and ruin the story for you. So ‘Pucked Off’ is the fifth book of the ‘Pucked’ series. It is one of the best sport romance series I ever read. If you read the ‘Pucked’ series you all know who Lance Romero is and probably can remember Poppy too. While the rest of the series was light hearted and full of funny moments, ‘Pucked Off’ is different. It is the most emotionally and the heartbreaking story of the series.Do you remember the girl from ‘Pucked Up’ who rubbed off the dick on Miller’s forehead, went to grade school with Lance and was stuck in a closet for seven minutes with Lance when she was twelve years old? She is our heroine Poppy O’Connor. Poppy is beautiful, sweet, smart, and generous. She works as a massage therapists and that is how Lance comes back into her life.Through out the series, we all read about Lance ‘Romance’ Romero and know all about his reputation as a manwhore. I was always curious about his relationship with Natasha, a.k.a. Tash, the team's ex-physical therapist and at some point was hoping she was his happily ever after. OMG! After reading the book and realizing how toxic she was for Lance, I am really glad it wasn’t her. Deep down Lance is sweet and has a good soul but he is really broken, vulnerable and insecure. He has a lot of trust issues because the people that supposed to love and protected him, only neglected and abused him. He also doesn’t believe he deserves anything good because of the guilt he is carrying since he was eleven years old. He envies the serious and stable relationships his teammates Alex, Miller and Randy have. Even though he doesn’t think he deserves it, he wants to have the same stability in his life. In the hopes of having someone he can trust in his life, he shares his past with Tash, which she ends up using it to manipulate and hurt him more. The events caused by his misplaced trust leads him to the clinic where Poppy works. When they meet at the clinic even though he is nervous, he is attracted to her. He has a feeling he knows her but he cannot remember it. Because of his horrific childhood he keeps the memories related to his childhood locked away, which is not really helpful at all. I loved how their relationship was evolved and how by the help of Poppy, he started to remember the good memories from his childhood. Poppy is one of the few people who can see through Lance. Every time when Lance tells Poppy ‘‘I wanna deserve you’’, my heart broke for him but it also made me love Poppy more because she always assured Lance that he deserves her, their relationship and happiness. I also loved how successfully Helena Hunting balanced the ups and downs of their relationship so that it wasn’t full of relationship drama. You want more details about their relationship? Then I recommend you to start reading the book ASAP :)‘Pucked Off’ is a heartbreaking, beautiful, sweet and hopeful story. I couldn't put this book down until I was done. If you enjoy previous books from the ‘Pucked’ series and/or sports romance, you will definitely enjoy reading this book. I am hoping that this is not the last book of the series and maybe next we can read stories of Charlene& Darren or even Abby&Rookie :)Would I recommend this book: Yes.Would I re-read this book: Definitely.Would I read future books by this author: Yes.

Lance is MINE! He has my heart forever!
I received this book for free from Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This story. This has been the story I’ve been waiting for ever since book two of the Pucked series and I am so, so, sooo effing thrilled to say it didn’t disappoint! I mean, Helena can never disappoint, because her words are magic, but this book is on another level of her writing. She really outdid herself with Lance’s story. To say Lance has a reputation on and off the ice is an understatement, but there is always some lies and exaggeration among the truth. And truth is, Lance is way more than he lets people see. He’s a very reserved guy, never letting his feelings show–aside from anger. Anger he can handle. It’s the other feelings he struggles with. Lance has a dark and emotional past. He’s overcome a lot but he’s no where near being okay. But Lance is tired of the life he’s living. All of his friends on the team, his best friends, are in committed relationships. They have love and attachments and other priorities than what goes on while on the ice.So when Lance comes face to face with a girl who won’t give him the time of day and has the magic touch (she’s a massage therapist, y’all. Get your heads out of the gutter), he can’t stop thinking about her. And not just because she’s stunning. But when Lance finds out they share a past, a past he can’t remember, he will do anything to get her to give him a second chance. To prove that he can do better, be better. The more time these two spend together, the more Lance realizes he isn’t good enough for her, but he wants to deserve her.If you’re expecting the next hilarious edition to the Pucked series, you might want to change your mindset a little before jumping into this book. While it’s still funny, because Helena is so good with her humor, this isn’t like the other books in the series. It’s more raw, more emotional, just more. This book opens your eyes and has you on the verge of tears within in the first 10%.Pucked Off is also more romantic than the others. Lance wants to derseve Poppy, the main heroine (who made a cameo in book two–the girl I’ve been rooting for since then for Lance to fall in love with), and he’s stopping at nothing. He wants to make up for forgetting her. Not once but twice, but the more time they spend together, the more he remembers. Poppy has a special connection to Lance. One not any other girl has, but she has her reservations about getting into anything with him. And as Lance pursues her, courts her, he will leave you swooning!!Honestly, I fell so hard for Lance in this book. So hard! Do you ever get a feeling about loving a book before you even pick it up and that the hero will turn into one your top book boyfriends? That’s the feeling I had with Lance and Pucked Off! With each page I fell harder and harder for Lance, especially when he realized he deserves love and happiness despite the bad that he’s been through.Truth time. I stayed up way to late reading this book when the ARC landed on my kindle and even I finished it took me an extra thirty minutes to an hour to fall asleep because I couldn’t stop thinking about the beautiful and emotional journey I went on. After like four or five hours of sleep, I woke up thinking of this book. For a whole two days after I couldn’t think about anything but this book. Lance occupied my every thought. I. AM. OBSESSED! I am in love. It’s only February but I know Pucked Off is a definite favorite of 2017!!!Helena Hunting blew me away with this book. Lance is the man that I’ve been waiting for. This story and this journey you will go on is not one to be missed.

So d*mned good..
Hands down, the Pucked series is one of my favorites, and one I am very quick to go back and re-read time and time again. I was beyond excited to get my hands on Pucked Off. I have loved all the Pucked men, and I have a special place in my heart for Randy Ballistic. In my mind and heart, Randy represented the everyman. He struggled, fought his demons, got the girl and he persevered. Let’s just say that after devouring the back half of Pucked Off, Lance is my main man, and Randy is a close second.Lance Romero has been represented in the previous books at the play boy, the flirt, the smart-ass, the honourable friend, the team mate, and the loner. I always believed that Lance had good guy potential. Violet wouldn’t give him the time of day, if he wasn’t. I just felt that there was so much more to his behavior pattern, than Lance just being a man whore because he can be. I honestly believe that people/characters who have had real struggle, the bone crushing kind, the mental anguish kind, have more drive and depth of character than people who have not had to struggle. Lance’s past tortures him on a daily basis, and the people he has in his life can make or break him as a person. He’s in such a dark place in the beginning of the book. Poppy O’Connor pops back into his life, and she opens him up. Poppy helps him see that there is more to his life, than his past. Life is about the consequences from the choices that are made. He has to want his life to be different, and she opens his eyes to possibility of more.I don’t give out five stars ratings easily. A fives star book has to have believable characters, that actually have depth. It needs to have a story I can connect, and relate to. It also needs to make me feel something. I am not emotional girl, when it comes to these books. I am can usually compartmentalize the emotion and heart of the story pretty well. This book was on such a different level, emotionally. Lance’s book did more than make me feel something, it made my stomach ache for him. Everyone in his past has either abandoned him or hurt him irrevocably. I am not going to spoil it, but there is a scene between Lance and Poppy, that nearly broke me. Lance’s story just hit me hard, smack dab in the middle of my pessimistic, book loving heart. These books wouldn’t be the same if Violet didn’t make an appearance, and make us all laugh. There is still that same sense of humor that only Helena can give the readers. I liked that we saw the characters from the other books, but I also liked that they didn’t need to be there for the story to be good. This is just a wonderfully well written, book. I can honestly say, that there was no eyerolling involved while reading this book, not a one. Lance’s story, just hit all the right book loving buttons for me.An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review….

This book was everything! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
I’m going to make this one quick. This was all sorts of AMAZING! The FEELS, the FEELS, all of the capital letter FEELS with this one!!! I read/heard this one in one sitting, one really long, didn’t go to sleep, can’t stop, won’t stop reading sitting. That is how much I loved Pucked Off. I just want to scream from the rooftop: YOU MUST READ THIS!!!I’ll admit a few things, this series has grown on me. Pucked I couldn’t even finish, but the last books, especially Randy’s and this one have been absolutely amazing. I will also admit that I’m a sucker for well-written broken heroes, and this one was very, very broken. If you’ve read the Clipped Wings books you know Helena can do broken hero like a boss (hello Hayden!), you also know that she can do really good angst. But since the Pucked series was a little more lighthearted and over the top, I never saw Lance coming, especially since in the previous books he was more of a manwhore sidekick. So, what can I say, this was a very welcomed surprised and it has easily become my favorite HH book, cause well, broken hero, kickass heroine, well developed background story, and hockey...always hockey. So Lance, OMG my heart hurt for him so much, he was so broken but yet so sweet and vulnerable. I totally did not expect him, he wrecked me. I dare you not to fall in love with him. He’s my favorite now <3I will not spoil the story or the heroine for you. I was more than happy with the choice of heroine and I absolutely loved everything about her. I absolutely loved her relationship with Lance. I love her silent strength, and her resiliency. I loved that she was different. I loved their chemistry. I loved the pacing of the story, the slow burn. I loved loved loved that she was pivotal in this awesome man’s healing because he so deserved it. She was the one, there was no other, he was definitely waiting for her and she for him.Sigh, I’m in love with this book. I can’t stop thinking about it. And that Epilogue (you know I love my epilogues) absolutely perfection. Pick this up, you won’t be disappointed. Oh, and the audiobook is fantastic as well, Zachary Webber (aka Jacob Morgan) voice is everything, I could listen to him all day, every day, just don’t tell my husband I said that ;)
