Buy one size up!
I ordered a medium and accidentally received an XL. I tried it on thinking it was a medium, and because it didn't fit as snug as I had hoped, I ordered a small from another seller. By the time I realized the first pair was an XL it was too late. After a 4-5 hour hike through the Grand Canyon, to my surprise, these run small (really small). The size small turned out to be too small and the XL fit just fine. When ordering, order at least one size up.Aside from the size, they are thick enough to keep you warm while hiking in 40 degree weather without another layer on top and they are not see through. They also have a slight sheen to them which keeps them from looking dull. Dress them up or down. Great purchase had it not been for the sizing mishap. Nevertheless, Hot Chillys in a can have a new fan.

Great value!
Wore on helicopter trip to Alaska's Mendenhall glacier for 3 hour trek and ice climbing down a 60 foot cravasse. It kept me warm and flexible enough to move. It was a hard climb with crampons and ice picks but I didn't feel sweaty or cold. I'm sensitive about textures of fabric and this was comfortable. Wore under a layer of convertible cargo pants and rain pants. Also served well when going outside cruise ship at 1-2am to watch northern lights. Most people left deck because it was too cold. But between base layers, gloves (super useful), windbreaker, hat and scarf, I was toasty and stayed up for hours on deck looking at the shifting patterns of the Aurora Borealis. Did read other gear reviews that lamented the lack of zippers or thumb hooks, I didn't really feel it detracted. My purpose for Hot Chillys was simple layering without need to take off. I had a running top with those features that I used on warmer days, 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit and the zipper was useful. But Hot Chillys was mainly for really cold days when I don't need to ventilate.

Perfect base layer
I purchased this to wear while on Christmas vacation in both Milwaukee and skiing in Colorado (I've lived in Florida the last five and a half years and grew up in Texas; not too keen on the cold). It came in on time and is of great quality. It's not itchy or anything and is very warm. I was beginning to sweat wearing it inside (we had the heater on, so what did I expect? haha)My only "complaint" (and it's hardly that) is that I was hoping it would be a little bit more "next to skin" fit so I would be able to wear it under skinny jeans. However, I'm pretty small (5'3", 120 lbs - I bought a small) and I'm used to things fitting a little loosely. I can still wear it under looser jeans, so it's really hardly an issue at all. Anyone a little taller than me will probably be able to get that ultra tight feel to it.I am so happy with my purchase and will defiitely buy again when I need more cold weather gear.

Keeps you warm and wicks away moisture
I was shopping for a snowboarding trip in February and the people at the store recommended Hot Chilis for a thermal base layer. They were quite expensive at the store so I waited until I got home to check online. First I researched the brand to confirm that they are as good as people say they are. After reading through several forum reviews I felt confident that these were the way to go and I found them here on Amazon for a better price. They worked perfectly for my trip and kept me warm while snowboarding. I also used them under my clothes while going to dinner which definitely helped because some nights the temperature dropped to 10F.Overall they are soft, comfortable, non-irritating, and warm so they provide an excellent base layer for all cold weather activity.

Good for camping and yoga
I purchased these as a liner under my pj's for camping. It was really cold and they helped to keep me warm while camping. I didn't overheat in them and stayed nice and cozy as it was extremely cold. I've used these also for doing yoga and they're perfect. They're comfortable and feel like an extension of your skin. They cover well so you're not worried about having see-through attire on when you're in downward dog or any other revealing position. The only complaint that some may have is there is a small circular patch on the calf of these pants. It doesn't bother me at all and I've used them also for leggings under dresses and skirts.

Awesome underlayer but not warm enough to wear alone.
I really do love these pants. I think they will be great under my snowpants for skiing, which is what I actually bought them for anyway. I tried them on and they were so comfortable I wore them a few times already for running around. They are a great underlayer, but if it is really cold out, they will not keep you warm alone. I tried to wear them to take the dog for a walk/run this week and it was too cold to wear them alone, under pants they would be awesome, which is what they are intended for I'm sure. Overall,I would recommend, they are super comfy!
