Athena Empowerment Technology - Timeless Black

I purchased one of these Athena alert pendants for my oldest granddaughter, who recently just started her first job, working as a cashier at a convenience store. It was easy to set up, and works great. In all tests, alert messages are received fast and consistent and it's quick and easy to use. The alert I receive contains a link which opens a map and shows her exact location.Here is what compelled me to write this review: Last night she accidentally forgot to remove it from the waistband of her work-pants when she ran them through the washing machine. It went through a full wash-cycle, and it was only after the wash was done that she discovered it. We dried it best we could, then placed it immersed in a bowl of uncooked rice-grains for a few hours to try to extract as much moisture as possible. Afterward, we tested it and so far - surprisingly - it seems to be unaffected. Works perfect in all aspects.

This was really easy to set up! I did a test run with my contacts and it worked perfectly! I'm not a young college student. I am 56 years old with a health issue. I am very active though, and this gives me and my family peace of mind! Would recommend this to anyone of any age :)

Easy to use

After purchasing this product and app, my wife and I discovered that the the app requires access to all of your files, media, and photos. Worse, it must be kept running at all times, must be allowed to edit your contacts and Bluetooth connectivity, and it takes control of a wide variety of other functions of your phone. This does not appear at all related to the app function and I am concerned that this may offer a backdoor to controlling your phone. I would strongly advise against purchasing this product.The ROAR customer service team was very responsive to this post and our return of the device. They e-mailed us, responded on Amazon and sent a personal looking letter to us. The letter stated they are working on reducing the application's "invasive" feeling requirements, but were not very specific. They asked that we go back to Amazon and change our rating. I have increased the rating to 2 stars given this is a company that appears to care about holding onto customers and treating them well.Basically, from my experience, if you do no mind this app having access to many areas of your phone, many people appear to like the product a lot. If you are concerned with privacy, this app may not be for you. If you are comfortable with giving up some digital privacy and feel it will translate into personal safety, this may be the device for you. Either way, the customer service and responses to concerns are really strong. You don't find good customer service as easily as you used to.Basically, use caution and read the terms of service and the applications access very carefully.

I got this for a family member who is on the go and often alone running errands. Kids helped with the programming and they said it was very easy to set up and even tested it. This is a great product because you cannot always get to your phone. If heaven forbid you are mugged the first think they take is a phone so having the added security if helpful and give us peace of mind. This is a helpful item for anyone for added security. I am going to purchase one for myself.

I’ve used the Athena and the app for about a month. I like the fact that I’m barely aware of the Athena during the day (I practically forget that it’s on my belt loop), but I can depend on it to scream loudly or send a notification to my emergency contacts if I ever need help.I’ve read other reviews, so be clear: 1) The app is needed to be able to send a notification with your current location to your emergency contacts. 2) They ask for contact info from you to set up an account, but they never send spam. 3) They ask to connect to your contacts, but you choose who you add as emergency contacts, and they never contact them for any reason. 4) They ask for Location because that’s the goal: let your emergency contacts know right where you are if you need help.If you or a loved one needs this kind of additional security l the Athena is a great choice! I bought one for me and one for a friend!

I LOVE my Athena device!! It is super easy to set up and use. Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect from this device but it really provides peace of mind to know that, at the click of a button, your friends and family know exactly how to help you.The app provides three different alert systems. The first is an loud alert that sounds a siren-like sound from the device itself while sending your contacts your location. The second is a silent alert that would just send your contacts your location. The third alert is one that you can send through the app itself with a text message where you can detail any additional information you want your contacts to have. I would highly recommend giving this a try! I love this company and their mission.

Needed to return mine because wanted to acess confidential files. If your phone is for personal use only, great product
