Air Root Pruning Pots are an amazing development in horticulture which allow you the grower to massively increase your roots mass and efficency without using even more fertilisers or nutrition. The pots used are round but have ridges in them which stop the roots circling round into an ever denser but inefficient root ball. The ridges point out and have holes in them. As your roots grow they will grow out of the medium and the holes in the sides and bottom of the pots where they will naturally die and be air pruned. This dying off sends a signal back to the plant to start growing secondary roots off the large roots within the pot. Secondary roots will be air pruned leading to tertiary roots and so on and the end result is a hugely dynamic fast growing root system that has the ability to absorb nutrients quicker leading to overall larger plants and increased yields. They are simple and they really work. Available in 3L 9.5L 12L & 20L sizes. Sold here Air Root Pruning Pot 20 litre x bundle 12.

Brilliant rooot ball structure in the air pots
I've used these pots for the first time, for plants that need lots of moisture but don't like sitting in soggy compost. They have worked well so far but I'm not so sure that they make that much difference in the area of moisture. However, the root balls are fantastic and lots of roots generated from the base of thee plant as opposed to root growth in normal pots, which tend to circle around the pot. Much better establishment of plants when put in the ground. I am also growing tomatoes, chilli peppers, aubergines, dahlias and cucumbers in the larger air pots and they are doing well as these plants like air around their roots too, which the air pots enable. All in all, I'd use these pots for some Plants's that like the conditions these pots provide. However, beware that in hot weather, these pots need bettter, more comprehensive watering than normal plastic pots.
