Beautiful, fun book
This book is utterly beautiful, but the magic that I found was when my grandtwins finished reading it to me and sharing the pictures, we started rounds tell me their dragon. I took turns, too. Their creativity had really been sparked. A wonderful moment. So I bought the book a second time for a granddaughter, and again the stories of the dragons in her imagination were great funCheered by these great experiences I decided to send this book as a birthday gift to my nephew. The price had increased from $26 to $42. I did not understand the increase in such a short time, and so he got a different wonderful book.

Amazing dragons, amazing story
Absolutely love this book so beautifully drawn and the story is so fun to tell. My grandson enjoys it but even better his mother and his aunt's love reading it to him. A perfect bedtime story.

Beautiful thinking about and seeing our own dragons
I shared this book with my 6-year old twin grandson and granddaughter. We all love it, and it is now a treasured part of a visit with Granny. The illustrations are so beautiful and whimsical, and it gave us an opportunity to relax from playing, and have a real discussion about what type of dragon we all would be. The kids drew pictures of their own imaginary dragons after we all experienced this book. The book is large and substantial in coaxing us to talk about things we usually only think about in our subconscious, and it now occupies a prominent position in my family room. I don’t know who loves it more, me or the grandchildren.

Breathtaking.
This book is simply lovely. The illustrations are splendid - rich watercolors of dragons of varied shapes, sizes, and specialties, along with their human (usually child) owners. And the language, though minimal and simple, is poetic: "My dragon is an ice dragon. His breath is snowflakes." One of the best parts is actually the endsheets, just inside the front and back covers, which are illustrated with dragon eggs in various stages of hatching. I give this book as a gift whenever a friend has a baby, because it is one that the child will undoubtedly love into adulthood - and one that I know the parents will not mind reading repeatedly, as I have done with my kids.

Beautiful
I don't have kids, but I bought this book just for me. I found this artist because she paints a lot of the covers of Robin Hobb's fantasy novels. I wandered over to her website one day and saw some of the paintings in this book. I had to have it.The paintings are beautiful, as is the simple prose used to outline all the different kinds of dragons. And all the dragons are truly magnificent, though quite different from one another. The lesson is obvious and wonderful. I love to pull this book out just to gaze at the pages and do so often.

Marvelous illustrations
Read this with my grandchildren. They wanted to continue the story with their own dragon paintings. As a watercolorist I was impressed by the paintings on each page. Great book for the aesthetic souls of all ages

Delightful
This book is gorgeous with watercolor depictions of dragons, their humans, and the background of each one. It is over large for most book cases. Pleasurable to open out and study for the joy of the creatures and what the human says about their dragon - Tell me a dragon with colours depending on what or where the dragon lives. This is a very adult story book but would be great to share with any dragon loving child. I am nearing my 70th year and I am keeping this book just for ME!!!

what other reviews didn't mention..
This book is very large- I'm really surprised. I mean, I would have known if I thoroughly looked at product description, but I didn't. I just assumed it would be A4 but it's larger than A4; but it's very thin. Which takes me to my second point- I wish there were few more of those dragons and "describtions" to go with it (there are 12) But I am saying that Not from a child's point of view- I think for them it would be enough, because it's very creative. And so, because of its size, it's very impressive. But that's what also makes it work. This book is definitely a rare find, and I'm very satisfied with it. Having said this, I bought this for a 36 year old woman- I am still to give it to her, so I'll update my review once I know how she took it (I know she will like it!)..Don't buy it if you think you are getting fairy stories and tales to read, unless you know what to do when you get something you didn't expect...

Inspiration for writing about dragons
I bought this as a hook into writing non-chronological reports on dragons. I used a lot of the Pie Corbett Talk for Writing ideas and the children were enthralled by the dragons within this book. The amazing artwork is a real stimulus and we began by creating our own fantastic dragons and their world's. The children (year 3) produced some fantastic reports and even though the topic lasted for three weeks, they didn't want it to end. Definitely a great book to inspire writing.

Beautiful illustrations. A lovely way to fire your child’s imagination.
Beautiful book. Wonderful illustrations and a lovely way to talk to my two year old about her own dragon! It is very large and doesn’t fit in a normal bookcase. It’s also quite pricey, but my toddler loves it and I can see her enjoying it even up to secondary school age so I think it’s worth the money.
