Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide: The Modern Era, Previously Published as Leonard Maltin's 2015 Movie Guide

I wish it had more recent movies.

The very first film I looked up, a Cary Grant film, informed me that I'd have to find the info in another book. I went to my ancient Maltin book, that I was hoping this would replace because it's falling apart, and found what I was looking for. How many more times will this happen? Am really disappointed. This was just a prosaic 1940s Cary Grant film and this book didn't have that info. Really?Updated: just tried to find The Naked and the Dead, a major film by Raoul Walsh. It's not listed. This book is a ripoff. Absolute garbage. Buyer Beware!

Great book!!! I just brought this remade 2015 version which was his last. Always loved Leonard's honest reviews on all these movies, he is the best movie reviewer.

Our previous Leonard Maltin movie guide had become tattered and the spine broke into two pieces so we figured a newer version was due. Unfortunately this Movie Guide no longer includes the last section that lists major movie stars and the movies they starred in. We used that section often when we'd come upon a movie on TV that had already begun. We recognized a main character or two and we wanted to know the name of the movie so we could look up the review.We were very disappointed to find out that movie star listing at the end is no longer part of this book. Unfortunately we had immediately recycled the old book before we discovered this section was no longer part of the movie guide.

Yes, I use the on-line movie review sites, and I use other books, but I (usually) find reviews by Leonard Maltin to be the most cogent of the lot. I first bought this book as Maltin's 2015 Movie Guide. (I am bummed that Mr. Maltin has not published an updated copy since). I used it so much that it wore out, so I bought a replacement, now labeled as Movies of the Modern Era. I was given an Amazon Fire 8 HD at Christmas, and bought the e-book version to have it handy on the device. This volume, along with Maltin's "Classic Movie Guide" make a good set of high quality movie reviews up to the year 2015.

handy to know if a film is worth watching

My dad used an older edition of this to find out about movies and was getting more and more dated and missing more movies as they seem to come out with more every week. So with this he is back in the game with an updated and more complete list. For anyone that can't internets this is a fantastic replacement for IMDB, is made of paper which is weird to say the least. I hope they keep making these "book" thingamabobbers so we can get him next edition in 10 years.

Excellent refer manual for any movie buff. Have not purchased one of these for a few years was therefore sorry to learn this was the last manual being produced by Leonard Maltin. Is unbeaten in it`s field. Cannot recommend highly enough.

This book, last updated in 2015, includes a comprehensive listing of modern movies, rated with well-written reviews and some movie details. A very handy reference. Sometimes, it can be easier to reach out for this oversized pocket book, than to perform a Web search and try to find a suitable review for a movie you want to know more about!
