How Boat Things Work: An Illustrated Guide (INTERNATIONAL MARINE-RMP)

Great book. I have not read it all, but I am using it for a course I am doing and its highly recommend by my tutor. Very clear diagrams. Great book for someone who knows nothing about how boat things work. Highly recommend.

May not cover everything about a yacht but it tries to and does it in a clear, informative style with fantastic illustrations and drawings

Great background reading with well thought out explanations of how a boat works but you will also need a fault finding repair book

I brought this book to assist my education in the field of marine engineering. I have found this book simple and easy to understand with great pictures to back up the information.

Quick post no issues

Very interesting book, that I hope I never use. Author has a very nice style and the exploded images are really helpful in building understanding.

Do you know what a tabernacle is? Nope? Then this is the book for you. But not for me as I know what a davit is. You will soon.

The content of this book is pretty good from what I have read so far and the diagrams used are well illustrated. What lets this book down is that pictures are low resolution and as result don’t look that good. Also, quite a few images are not expandable when clicking on them through the kindle reading application for the PC, this is a big problem as I cannot read what parts on the engine the author is referring to. Zooming in does not work as it just makes the text larger not the images. I would like to have emailed the author first to notify him and give him the opportunity of fixing the problems in the book. But I could not find an email link for him on amazon. Hence the negative review.

I bought this for my husband and we love it as we are learning all about sailboats and how to fix things on our own.

The headline says it all. 5 Star product !

Like everyone I am a fan of Nigel Calder's series of books on the technical aspects of boats. I have to say this book is a notch above in being able to visualize how these systems actually look. The isometrics illustrations and cutaways are the prefect complement to other resources. Highly recommend adding this to your collection.
