Top Bird Feeder
I have had many bird feeders, but the seeds always dropped on the floor and made a mess, even the no grow seed still grew. Since buying this one there is no mess, the magpies and wood pigeons cannot land on it, which was a problem before. This is well made catching any seeds in the tray below. The squirrels cannot reach it as I have it on a shepherd's hook 6ft high near bushes and a tree so they can feed with protection. The squirrels cannot climb up because it is too slippery as they cannot get a grip. Excellent - can watch the small birds enjoy their meal without the big birds frightening them. Expensive but worth every penny.

Great design
Having owned many feeders of various designs in the past they all had one flaw . Seed spilling over the feeding area and ending up feeding non desirables.Having read all the reviews on this feeder it seemed that this simple design may be the solution . It seemed a bit pricey but with autumn approaching I decided to treat my feathered visitors to a new restaurant in the garden .The order arrived very promptly and was well packaged . The feeder was topped up and suitable placed in the garden. Within 5 minutes the regular robin was first to the table . After watching him for an hour the regular flock of sparrows were jostling for a go and were soon forming an orderly queue waiting for their turn .Any spillage was efficiently collected in the large collection area at the base of the feeder and could be poured back into the seed hopper so very little waste .The large overhanging roof design also kept the rain off the feeding ports and kept the waste collection bowl dry . When the wind drove the rain in sideways the feeding ports remained dry with only a small amount going in the waste collection section . The quick release nature of the collection bowl meant it could be easily cleaned out if the waste food had become damp and couldn't be recycled. In conclusion, it is a simple design that makes you wonder why it hasn't been adopted till now . Cost more than other feeders maybe but this one does the job . The birds love it and no sweeping up to do at the end of the day . Highly recommended AAA 👌

Expensive - but well made overall.
This is a well thought out bird feeder with the exception perhaps of a rather loose closing mechanism on its base, as mentioned in some reviews. We wanted to customise the two we bought with baffles hanging above, to keep feed in bases dry, and hanging trays below, to prevent seed dropping to ground level (we've been in this game a long time and are wise to Starlings throwing seed everywhere) which is a problem associated with all designs but less so with this one. Birds took to it readily - but not been able to eat seed fallen through the grid, as described on the website. This base is quite deep and most UK and visiting species just don't have beaks long enough - it does mean that the dropped seed stays dry and is not wasted though. Very numerous Wood Pigeons around here did require further dissuasion from landing on the hanging trays - achieved by further customising. That is the biggest plus that we were aiming for!

Not robust in windy conditions
This seemed like a good idea, to collect the seeds underneath and also to provide cover for the birds. It looks very attractive and is easy to fill. The problem is that in wind the top comes off and the seeds are scattered everywhere, and the bottom also falls off very easily. Not at all suitable for windy weather, but a good idea, just not robust enough for the Scottish climate. It has not yet been trampled by the deer, but give it time.

Not squirrel proof
Very popular with the birds, including robins, as they can easily access the feeder. It also seems to stop the pigeons from feeding underneath so that's been a great success. The problem is that the squirrels can still access the feeder by jumping from the side and then they chew away the plastic trying to get to the seeds, as in the photo. This is just after one week so I think it's more or less useless. The part holding the seeds either needs to be metal or much thicker plastic. It's advertised as being rodent proof but that's simply not true.

Good value
It’s really good. The birds seem really happy sitting down to eat

No Waste
My husband is the bird feeder expert (very picky). He indicates this is perfect size, easy to clean, and no wasted seeds!
