Pertronix 1231 Ford 3 Cylinder Ignitor

This ignitor was to be installed on my Ford 3000 Tractor. As usual, I didn't get around to installing it right away so it's my fault that I didn't carefully check the box when it came in. Both the top and bottom mounting plates were missing. I spent $150.00 for nothing. Like I say, my fault for not checking but the parts should have been there.

I can't think of anything I've purchased that has pleased me more. My 1965 Ford tractor has given me several problems over the years and I finally started to look at taking out the points and putting in the electronic ignition. Having never done this, I read up on making this change and determined it was the way to go. I ordered the parts, got them in and easily installed them in my current distributor. What a difference. Upset with myself for not doing this years ago. The Pertronix brand proved to be easy to work with. I had it all installed and running in about an hour and it now cranks and runs much better.James Leon Windham.....Alabama

I installed this on a 1966 Ford 3000. On my tractor the wire supplying power to the coil had to be replace because it was what is called resistance wire which limited the voltage to about 9 volts. Pertronix needs 12 volts to operate properly. Once I bypassed this and timed the ignition it has been running great. Good value since a points and condenser kit is about half the price of this unit.

Best thing I bought no more point problems 1973 3500 ford update worked for 2 days update it was my fault battery to low in. Wouldn't fire battery was 11.8 volts new one 12.8 works fine make sure your battery is up. Update March 2017. Pertronix quit for no reason but they warrantied right away and overnighted new one. Tractor is purring like a kitten once again.thanks to amazon customer service.

Pertronix ignitor is bad and the company will not replace until I replace the coil and ignition wire. Avoid this product and company.
