Morshade 180 Portable Shade Canopy Sun Umbrella, 9-Foot with Base Attachments, Green

This umbrella does what it says it will do; stays put and the huge 9' canopy is really nice. Spent a week on the beach with it and we had some really strong winds that turned my brother's umbrella inside out. this one stayed strong and we even ended up using this one to help block the wind from his umbrella haha! Its well made, and the material of the canopy seems like it will hold up well over time.It is a little heavy and kind of a pain to carry the umbrella (it comes with a cover with shoulder straps), the stand and the stakes but I used one of those "TB" brand beach carts and that helped a lot.As far as using the stakes, I will say that they don't glide in and out of the sand as easily as some of the videos suggest. But that may have just been the particular sand I was anchoring to. I never actually pushed the 2 ft stakes entirely into the sand mostly because the compacted sand that deep just resisted too much. I was going to keep working them in the whole way, but was afraid that I wouldn't be able to pull them back out. Once this thing is set up, with the stakes in, it WILL NOT be easily moved. I tried pulling straight up on it and moving it around, and it put up a fight. Yes, if you stood there for 15 minutes rocking it back and forth with all your strength you could probably get it loose from the sand (or break the base whichever would give first) but under normal and even strong winds, this this is planted solid.Since the stakes weren't in the whole way (maybe 2 inches were left above ground), it did rock slightly under HEAVY wind but I just piled some sand around it and that helped a lot. At first I compared the movement of this umbrella in the wind to other quality umbrellas and I was a little disappointed that the canopy seemed to move a little more. but I realized that this is 2-3 feet BIGGER than the other umbrellas. So naturally it will catch a little more wind. But again, this thing was planted. it wasn't going anywhere.All in all, it isn't necessarily as easy to put up as a standard umbrella that gets wedged into the sand, but its totally worth the extra couple minutes to set it up. it was rock solid and I look forward to trying it on my deck (with its ratchet strap) and at family events (with the shorter ground stakes). That versatility is what drove me to buy this versus that standard beach umbrella.*Note - in strong winds the best way to anchor this thing is to dig a small hole in the soft sand until you get to the more compact sand. THEN anchor it with the long stakes and bury the base with sand. Also, the only weakness I could see being a potential problem is where the joint is for tilting the umbrella. The "teeth" that mate together are only plastic. however, you use the provided (and tethered) allen wrench to tighten it down and the pressure holds it still. just make sure its tight and lined up or the teeth could be stripped.

The umbrella is opened by pulling on a piece of cord hanging inside the umbrella. Because the umbrella is very heavy, I was not able to get the umbrella open. You must wrap the cord around your hand and pull, and even my adult son had difficulty opening it. Also, the umbrella is held up by sliding a cotter pin through the umbrella pole once the umbrella is raised high enough to pass the pin through the holes. It was very difficult to remove because of the weight of the umbrella pushing down on the pin.I managed to tug the pin out and the umbrella instantly collapsed on top of my head. Also, the telescoping pole is NOT easy to raise and lower. I would say that it would be nearly impossible to do once the umbrella is inserted into the bottom pole . The telescoping pole is inside the bottom pole.You must loosen a clamp on the bottom pole with a provided allen wrench, pull the inner pole out of the outer pole with your fingers, then re-tighten the clamp with the Allen wrench..If you had 2 strong people who could lift the umbrella out of the way while you pull out the inner pole, then re-seat the umbrella, maybe it you could do it.

It's the best beach umbrella we've had. It is extremely well built and VERY study and resistent to strong winds. The bottom plate had extension arms which, when buried in 8 to 12 inches of sand, has withstood 20 to 25 mph winds with no problem. The umbrella canopy has strong spines and stays open in strong winds witout trying to collapse. The only reason we gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it is a good bit heavier than your usual beach umbrella (maybe 10 to 15 pounds), but that additonal weight is because of it's sturdiness. Highly recommended and I would buy it again if I ever needed to. (written by husband Jim).

This is one of the best products for the beach, as far as umbrellas or shade is concerned. I've spoken with the owner concerning an issue with the locking mechanism and he told me there had been an update/improvement to that particular part and that he would send a replacement immediately. I've since purchased the newer version and can't tell you how wonderful this product is. It really works well in high winds, just as advertised. Is easy to put up and take down and transport. I would highly recommend this umbrella to anyone whos looking for an umbrella that can withstand wind on the beach.

Bought a Morshade 360 in 2018 - it was perfect and functioned beautifully. Bought another one recently and it was shipped with a broken joint on the pole that allows you to tilt the umbrella. Furthermore, the broken part was hidden in the folds of the rolled up umbrella so whoever packed it had knowingly packed it with a damaged part.The shipping box had an old shipping label on it which had been partially removed and scratched out with a black marker.Morshade’s phone is disconnected and they are no longer listed as a BBB approved company. Plus, their website has been shut down. Unfortunately I must give them 1 star so my review doesn’t get rejected.

Does what it was descried to do but I have a seam coming undone under less then month used just on my porch.

On my second one and it broke again. I live on the coast and twice broke where it articulates and even had it tied down. Love it when its open provide great shade.

Excellent product, but the fit into the ground base pad was too tight for inserting the first pole. Did.not want to use a hammer on it Will be contacting company.
