Bedmax Shavings - Horse Bedding Bale - Aprox 20Kg

Great for our rabbits, we put them in their litter box and it's great at soaking up the urine and minimising the smell.

My guinea pigs have been using this bedding for two weeks now and they are rather impressed. Lady Red’s cough has gone because unlike the previous wood shavings these ones are dust extracted. They are a good quality, larger wood shaving. The smallest shavings in the bag are the size of a normal shaving for most other brands.The shavings aren’t as tightly jammed together so are much easier to get out of the bag, unlike the previous brands which required a lot of upper body strength.They absorb well trapping the ammonia smell. Although Isambard threatened to move out if I left the cages another day. That was more due to the hay smelling damp and his passive-aggressive Clifton Suspension Bridge modelled out of guinea pig poop.However, the was one small draw back. My guinea pigs now smell like they’ve started a promising career as tobacconists. The wood shavings are kilned dried giving them distinctly smoky aroma, akin to cade. Whilst the odour may not be to everyone’s liking it means the wood shavings are a better quality than most, which are air dried leaving the wood oils in the shaving potentially risking skin irritation. The smoky scent does fade from the room after a day yet remains on my guinea pigs as a faint cologne. Ezra now thinks he’s an upper middle-class gentleman and behaves with far more sophistication. He’s taken to reading The Guardian in a waistcoat during breakfast.I think they are great value and having 5 guinea pigs I need shavings that last. I’ve barely used a fifth of the bag on a three-tier cage and a separate fourth cage that have been cleaned out twice so far. Ezra dosent like it when Lady Red flirts with other men, he gets very jealous, so Erasmus has the life of a bachelor and more human attention which he loves.Back to my point, I’m impressed with this product as are my furry tobacconists. I would highly recommend it.

Use this for our rats and our degus! Huge bag, will last a good few months compared to other small pet bedding that doesn't tend to last very long and sometimes is more expensive. Smells nice! Big flakes and doesn't seem to be dusty at all.

Cheaper than the other guinea pig sawdust I used to buy - great for them and they like it. Not massively massively absorbant, but does the job and I find it lasts longer!

This is a good quality product. I bought it to use as substrate for my fancy rats as it is dust extracted. It is a massive bale which will last a long time. You can buy cheaper if you have a local equestrian shop but getting it delivered to your door is a plus as it’s so heavy. I have however found myself sneezing since using this substrate so fear I’m somehow allergic to it, I do have a dust allergy but this is dust extracted. Just thought I’d mention it for people who have a similar allergy. I won’t be buying another for this reason but that aside it is a very good product. My rats like it and it masks smells very well.

Having used a hemp product for some years for my rabbit, I tried bedmax instead. I can’t praise it highly enough. It is very absorbent, makes cleaning the dirt tray very easy. The rabbit uses it happily. It does have a faint smoky scent, but this fades and in any case is not strong enough to disturb. My rabbit is sensitive to smells and doesn’t mind this, so I have no problem recommending this product wholeheartedly.

Item arrived well packaged, the shavings are a good size and make a really thick and comfortable layer in both my rabbit and guinea pigs hutches and cages. I have cleaned out two double outdoor hutches and three indoor cages and it hasn't made a dent in the amount of shavings in the bag. I would recommend these shavings for both young and older pets, the smell from the shavings is not overpowering and the shavings seem very absorbent, the rabbits seem to enjoy digging in them. I will be ordering again.
