Well done; most enjoyable!
As an artist well-versed in bead-media from beading leather to stitching on frame, as well as cornaly needle work, I give an excellent rating to Mr. Levy's "Bead and Sequin Embroidery Stitches". His full-color, well-illustrated guidance for stitching beads and sequins on fabric is clearly stated with images supporting the wonderful variety of illusion possible with basic stitches. The many worked samples are a significant boon to advancing one's understanding of the properties (color and reflection) of beads and sequins on fabric - an aspect not often mentioned, but every beadworker (who ever had to tear out a line stitched against the grain) needs to learn. The book also includes delightful examples from Mr. Levy's students. This experienced beader enjoyed the book very much, and found both tips and inspiration. How well is it for a beginner? The text is straightforward and easy reading. The stitches are very well explained and have photographs and sampler examples. The rest depends on the reader: Levy explains his system, presents the path (and a materials list) to work his directions; it's up the budding bead artist to jump in and stitch!

BEAUTIFUL BOOK!!
WOW!!...I DO BEADING, SOME OF WHICH IS ADDING VERY INTRICATE BEAD WORK AROUND CABACHONS. I WANTED SOME TIPS AND IDEAS TO HELP ME IN PLANNING AND EXECUTING THESE DESIGNS.THIS BOOK IS FABULOUS!! PLENTY OF WELL SET OUT DIRECTIONS ON INDIVIDUAL TYPES OF STICHES, WITH NICE PICS TO GO ALONG WITH THEM.THERE ARE MANY PATTERNS IN PIC FORMSHOWING FULL TECHNIQUES. THERE ARE ALSO ALOT OF PATTERN LAYOUTS THAT CAN BE TRACED OR COPIED AND LAYED OUT ON FABRIC, AND IF YOU PLAY AROUND WITH THE COPY MACHINE YOU CAN MAKE THESE PATTERNS IN A VARIETY OF SIZES AND LAY THOSE SMALLER PATTERNS OUT ON YOUR FABRIC TOO.

great for beginners
I looked through a lot books before I bought this one and I'm really glad I did. He goes through step by step instuctions for both right handed and left handed people. He goes through materials to get and starts with a simple stitch and then builds on that stitch to make something else, much like what one would do in a class. You get instructions on how to work with just beads, just sequins or both. If you a looking to learn to apply beading, and/or sequins to your project this is a good resource. The only reason for giving it 4 stars instead of five is when he explains a stitch he could do a better job in his pictures by labeling each place the needle goes in or out "A, B, C... " like ive seen in many instructional books, but if you read it a few times, you will be able to understand it.

Great illustrations and directions for beading and sequin embroidery
I like this book because it has great illustrations on how to sew beads onto your embroidery projects. It shows many different styles and ways to accomplish this task. It shows finished work with the beads in place and has step-by-step instructions to complete the project. It has specific details for attaching sequins as well. I wanted a book that would show me simple as well as more complex beading and sequin embroidery and this book does just that.

A great sequin embroidery book
I have been collecting embroidery books for years and this is the only book with easy yet exquisite sequin embroidery techniques. I would recommend this book to someone who is slightly beyond the basics and wants to learn a few more techniques.
