Career Development Theories
This book was purchased as the text for a Career Development class in a graduate program in Counseling. We're using it as a resource to supplement the lectures. I am finding it easy to read and so far very helpful. I especially appreciate the case examples and client/counselor dialogues as well as the information regarding the various tests and inventories which seem to be an integral part of the career counseling environment.

Its a textbook!
Expensive, buy it used if you can. I sold mine as soon as I finished the class. It wasn't as dry as some say it is. It is practical for real world ideas when it comes to MMPI and thinking about helping others with career ambivalence. However, its a textbook. Better than most, but not something I would keep to refer back to in the future.

Oh, so Boring, but Relevant
The writing is so dry and so very boring. Sharf is a fan of key terms and throws a seemingly endless supply at his readers. Much of the citations seem out of date (relying upon a model presented in the 1950s to analyze vocational opportunities TODAY), but it remains to be seen what else is out there.

There is a lot of really good information in this book however
There is a lot of really good information in this book however, the way it is written is very choppy and makes it difficult and monontonous to read.
