Scene Switch - ZigBee Light Link Certified, Battery-Operated Wireless Wall Switch
J**S
Works exactly as expected in a Hue System.
There are some very strange comments in other reviews for this switch. Most seem to arise from a basic inabiity to read the product specification and / or instruction manual. If in doubt Dresden publish both on their website - read before you buy.Firstly, inclusion into the network is easy. Set hue to add a light and click once on the switch. Done. In answer to those complaining that it doesn't appear in the Hue app; of course it doesn't. It has no need to. It's a switch, ie it's a data source all on its own for the network it joined. Just because Hue can't do switches correctly in a Zigbee network doesn't mean that everyone else's are faulty. So next associate the switch to the lamps it's to control. No problem, the proximity association (touchlink) works very well. You have to be very close to the lamp, which makes it easier to add the correct target when several lamps are close together. In use the control is quick and accurate. The switch tells the lamps instantly what to do and the lamps tell the hub what their status is whenever they get round to it. Simple. Doesn't rely on sending messages through the hub to turn the lights on. Demonstrates correct prioritisation. The physical switch action is infinitely better than the recent "friends of Hue" crop of dumb switches, all of which are slight refinements of the disgraceful Hue Tap.Why 4 stars not 5? The as-sold configuration is about as ugly as sin. It can get expensive to rectify this, so it would be much better if a bare switch option were available at even a slight discount so we can buy keys and frames according to taste without the waste of the supplied ones. To Dresden's credit they do include the 2 Jung adapter frames in the package so you can do Jung A / AS or anyone else's 55 mm frames, Jung CD or LS with frame and key change. I think it looks good in an LS Flat design frame, YMMV. In this regard it is much more customisable than the Friends of Hue switches, where you will find limitations of key finish and / or frame fit.So if you expect this to look, feel and act like a hue switch, look elsewhere. If you expect this to control lights in a Zigbee ZLL network reliably and blend into a home that has existing switches and Power sockets etc to match to, then this is one of a very limited number of choices.
