Rationality versus wisdom
It is reassuring to learn from this study that governments as a rule are rational when dealing with the international sphere. However, it brings up the next question of why so many of them, in spite of all their rationality, fail to be reasonable and engage in activities that are unwise. Even a bank robber must use rationality, if he doesn’t want to be caught. Thus, rationality is nothing but a tool that serves your purpose, no matter whether it is good or evil. So our rationality thinkers must upload their next task, namely to define wisdom and to identify persons who are so gifted and also to dissect the difference between rationality and wisdom. That maybe difficult to accomplish, but I trust the most intelligent among us can figure it out.

As dry as a box of sand.
Abstract and academic, and as dry as a box of sand. Serious students of famous "what were they thinking" events from history will not learn anything new or interesting from this book. I made myself read it all the way to the end but then promptly left it on a table at the hotel for someone else.

Written more as a text book for policy teachers
over all okay reading. It is more of an academic writing good as a text book. Not much valuable content for normal day today understanding of politics and foreign policies. Do not recommend for non academic readers.

A typical overriding of reality by motivated reasoning
These authors never opened a single book of empirical nor clinical psychology. Non-rationality does not imply randomness nor being unpredictable. The entire premise of this book is fallacious and lazy beyond words.

Großartige Analysen anhand historischer Beispiele.
Erster Teil des Buches etwas mühsam und selbstgefällig, der zweite - historische - Teil spannend.
