What you see in the picture is the tesults of an impromptu taste test.Unbeknownst to me, the wife unit purchased a what seemed a pretty nice schtolen from a reputable kinda-sort higherish-end grocery (rhymes with Trader Joe’s). Unbeknownst to *her*, I purchase this one made and shipped by German elves.The elven one came wrapped in plastic inside a velvety bag—definitely nice, but for some reason I expected it to come in some kind of cheese cloth, all handmade-y. No big deal.The better half was ready to snicker that the cheap one would be just as good, but NO CONTEST! You can assess the visual evidence of their preference, and this was after imposing some discipline (so Mom and Dad could get a piece).The overall opinion was that the cheap one would’ve been perfectly “OK,” had not the precision German-engineered Uber-Victor been nearby.Clearly not an everyday purchase but, then, Christmas isn’t every day. Would I purchase this again,? Would I pay the “expensive“ price? YOU BET! Well worth the money—and I’m Scottish.

This year I ordered my Emil Reimann Dresdner Stollen in late October, but did not open the tin until mid- January. I did not freeze, or refrigerate the tin--it just sat on my countertop for almost 3 months.The entire tin was cellophane wrapped and sealed and inside the tin, the stollen was again cellophane wrapped. It was still fresh and buttery and heavenly, so you know it keeps well. The taste is like nothing else, buttery and moist with delicious dried fruit pieces. If you buy the black/ gold tin, inside there is a wonderful velveteen drawstring pouch that says Emil Reimann Dresdner. It makes the stollen even more luxurious to wrap it and then place it in its velveteen pouch. I like to reuse the pouch later to store sterling serving pieces. This stollen is so worth the cost. Very special annual treat.

This is the Reimann stollen with the best ingredients. Heat with a little butter...heaven!

This product was exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed it. As good or better than anything I've had in Germany.

Totally worth the price. Best Stollen you can buy. I've never even had one this good in Germany itself, where I grew up. Really moist, lots of high quality dried fruit, raisins, and almonds. It's dense, yeasty, and really dense and delicious.

My wife and I went to Germany last year in October and ate Stollen. This was excellent, I will order several more cans for Christmas!!!!!!!
