Bedtime Story [DVD]

Loved it when I was a teen and still love it now. Couldn't stream it anywhere so I bought it.

Blake Edward's Bedtime Story was remade twice:Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and The HustleIt's a blast seeing Steve Martin and Rebel Wilson out classed comedically by Marlon Brando of all people!

Love this movie but it was so hard to find; really enjoyed it.

First, the Blu-ray: nice clean and crisp transfer with amazing color. For a 1964 film it’s terrific! The downside (and why I only gave it 4 stars) is that the “extras” could have been more. Second, the film itself: It’s a classic rom-com so don’t expect too much. Just enjoy it for the broad humor and predictable moments. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Brando delivers comedy like he did the serious roles, and he looks great. Shirley Jones is charming. And David Niven plays a David Niven-like character to perfection. Well worth the price to see a nice looking film with some great humor.

This is a restored version of the film that was released on Dec 14, 2021. It is shown in the original widescreen, not cropped down to the 4:3 aspect ratio, and has excellent audio quality. It is not a transfer from a poor quality VHS transfer to disc.If you enjoy the romantic comedies from the 60s you'll like this one. This version of the movie is well worth buying.

I've seen my share of funny movies over the years, and this one rates right at the top. I was overcome by uproarious laughter from scene to scene all the way through. Furthermore, enough praise cannot be bestowed on the acting of the two principal characters, David Niven and Marlon Brando.Furthermore, to my mind, this film proves beyond a doubt that Brando has to be the equal of any actor who ever lived. Not even Cary Grant can match him in ability to play serious and comedy roles with equal vigor and skill. His performance here was every bit as dynamic as were those in A Streecar Named Desire, On the Waterfront, The Godfather, or any other movie he's noted for.I should add that, despite the fact that your advertisement indicates the DVD as being playable on Zone 2 only, I found no such computer adjustment to this effect necessary. My recommendation is that this point be double-checked, and any appropriate correction made, in the interest of increased saleability.

I've wanted to see this for years - ever since seeing the 1980s remake. Thanks to the vendors for making a copy available. It's enjoyable, and lovers of the later film should watch this original (to see how much of the material is common between the two versions), but it isn't (IMHO) as good as the later version.

After waiting years for this movie on Blu Ray, It finally happened! Saw this movie on TV many moons ago and always wanted it on disc. You will bust a gut when David Niven mercilessly savages the scoundrel Brando. Priceless!

Remember seeing this movie when it first came out in the '60s. Brando, Niven and Jones were brilliant. Much better than the remake.

seit jahren suche ich schon nach der dvd in deutsch (ich glaube, der titel im fernsehen war "zwei erfolgreiche verführer"), leider erfolglos. ich habe mich allerdings bei der englisch-sprachigen fassung genauso amüsiert, obwohl ich nicht alles verstanden habe und es leider auch nicht die möglichkeit der untertitelung gibt. aber nachdem ich den film bereits mehrmals in deutsch im fernsehen genossen habe, war mir der inhalt sowieso geläufig. david niven - einer meiner lieblingsschauspieler der "alten garde" - läuft hier wieder einmal zur hochform auf und marlon brando überzeugt auch in der - für ihn eher ungewohnten - komödiantischen rolle. "bedtime stories" ist für mich eines der highlights in meiner mittlerweile doch recht umfassenden dvd-sammlung und sollte es den film doch einmal in deutsch geben, werde ich natürlich zuschlagen ;-).

This movie is great! A must for any old movie fan. I love this movie, Marlon Brando is terrific, so funny!!!!! :0)

Niven and Brando make a superb combination. Brando is not someone you think of as a comic actor, but he was hilarious. A hugely amusing film.
