Fast and Furious : Speed Chase Racetrack Slot Car Set - Officially Licensed, 38' x 18.5' Track Layout, Two 1:43 Replica Cars, Two Player Race Controllers, Eight Figure Track, Ages 3+

This fast and furious set is the first slot car set that I have owned. I only bought this slot car set to add to my o gauge trains. It took me a couple hours to get the track set up and the cars run around the track. First, it was difficult for me to put the track together tight enough. You need a lot of hand strength, which I lack. But since the brushes on the bottom of the cars were oriented wrong in the package, it took a lot longer for me to figure out that that was the reason why the cars would not move at first. One the sections of track had a dent in the rail, but this doesn't seem to effect the running of the slot cars. One of my gripes is that the guard rails for this set are made of paper card board and the card board tabs do not fit into the slots in the track perfectly since some of the plastic slots are not fully punched out of the track. I hope that laminating and tape will help reinforce the guard rails and keep them in place, which I kind of mangled already during set up. These guard rails are sort of necessary since the cars tend to derail easily. Also the cars tend to stop in the underpass section if the plastic pegs that elevate part of the track are not placed exactly where they need to be. The positive is that I am happy with the size of the track layout (4.5 inches wide roadway), which will eventually be placed where my Christmas tree is now and the car scale (1:43) in relation to my trains and 1:48 scale lionel die caste car that I already own. I have included a new picture of a different configuration of the track layout that I have placed in the center once I removed my Christmas tree. I find that the cars stay on the track easier with this configuration, even without the guard rails that I still have to reinstall.
