Pleased with the Kobo Aura HD
I have had the Kobo Aura HD for about a week now and i must say that I absolutely love it.The body lays comfortable in my hands and the touchscreen is nice and responsive. As I read mostly in the evening/night I wanted to have a good screen and lighting. The lighting is very good and the option to adjust the brightness via a slider is perfect. So far I have had no issues with eye strain or anything like that. When you first start the Kobo and connect it to you pc it is required to install the Kobo desktop software and create a free Kobo account. After this is done, it is not required to then keep using the Kobo software. I myself have my library of books in Calibre. After I had configured the Kobo with the Kobo software, I switched to Calibre to sync my ebooks. This was done nice and fast without any problems. The only downside I have found so far, is that there is now folder structure when you sync you books. Everything is in one list, which you can filter, but I would have liked to have folders. So all in all I am very pleased with the Kobo Aura HD.

Real paper quality screen, fast browsing
Quality of the screen is really good, better than "Kindle Paper white Gen 1" (compared visually with friends device) And Kobo lets you turn off back-light completely while Kindle lets you lower it to 1% only. The light is good too, but at 100% its too bright so normal usage should be at 10-50%. Some review says that at max brightness letters looks faded but in the real life use I don't think that you will be using it on max anyway, maybe only like a flashlight to light the room in the dark :)A bit annoying that you can't turn on full-screen on EPUB, MOBI and PDF files so you are forced to see big white footer at the bottom with the page number (there is some hack in google which forces footer to be smaller but couldn't make it work with newest October firmware v2.1) Strange that on Comic files CBZ and CBR you have ability to enter full screen. I hope that with some future firmware update they will implement this function for basic E-book formats.Experimental menu features like games (i think 7 of them in total) and web browser works quite well too. There is sketch-pad too where you can draw and export PNG images but it lags a bit when you draw (normal, because of E-ink display)Really great feature is "pocket" (getpocket.com) where you can transfer articles from web (PC/Android) automatically to Kobo device and read them offline, the layout on the device looks almost like e-book too, easy to read.Screen is not multi-touch (only Kobo Aura "not HD" has multi) so you can't zoom in/out with two fingers, instead you have to use +/- buttons to change zoom level or double tap with one finger.Really good product for quality reading.

I have used a friends and it is great
I ordered this as my friend in France has one.I am going there and will be often abroad for a month at a time. I read a lot and didn't want to bring books with me. Unfortunately this was dispatched on the 25th. September I was meant to have it by the 3rd. I still don't have it! It has gone awol with parcel post and Amazon have asked Kobo suppliers to send another. I hope that it arrives soon or I will be very angry as I will be away!

Slow to turn PDF pages
All the specs are excellent except for page turning speed for PDF files. I think it's because of the high resolution screen which requires more processing power. But it still is very slow, other readers on the market, like Sony PRS-T handle PDF page turning much better.

Very pleased with product
Delivered well within time!!. Very pleased with product, ideal for "bad" sleepers because of internal light. (so you don't wake your husband!)

Not ticking my boxes
I've used a Kobo Touch for a while now but am finding the small 6" screen inadequate.I'm aware that e-ink make 8" screens and was hoping to find a Kobo model with that screen size that I could simply port my library over to.Sadly, this is the only option available - and an extra 0.8" just doesn't cut the mustard. Then there's the price which is a little high.Come on Kobo. There's lots of readers that are getting older and prefer bigger text or who simply enjoy the more fluid reading experience available when they're not having to tap the screen to turn a page every 30 seconds. If you want to control the price, ditch the wireless link and the browser, I for one have only ever transferred books onto my Kobo by connecting it to a PC via a USB cable.

I'm in love!
This is the first ereader I've owned, and the second I've used. This model has extra storage (32G), background lighting, a beta version of an internet browser (not great, mostly a novelty with the eInk presentation), wifi, and other standard fare. Being able to sort and file my pdf's, writing, and ebooks on my laptop is amazing, and so far I've found the whole experience to be fantastic. I've over 200 books and still 30G's of space!Amazing little reader, I'd recommend it to anyone.

The Cadillac of ereaders!
What can I say....this is perfection! I have had a lot of ereaders. Kindle Keyboard, Kindle Touch, Kindle Paperwhite 1 & 2, Nook simple touch, Sony T1, and some older readers I won't list. Plus still have the Kobo Mini and Kobo Glo. This Kobo Aura HD is by far the BEST of any of them. The size of the screen, the lighting, the quality of the text, the ease of organization, it is the best of the best. I highly recommend it. It is superior to the Kindle Paperwhite. I hated the Cloud Collections, so returned mine. Also you can't put your own fonts on the Kindle, so that was a deal breaker to me. Kobo is #1!
