Excellent Model for Western Media in 1988 and beyond, brilliantly researched - where are the critics though?
Difficult to write a review that would do this book justice. The propaganda model that is put forth in this book has been thoroughly researched and is very well fleshed out with both an extensive appendix and sources. I have looked for critiques of this book, however as I have not found any yet of academic quality, and considering that I am hardly an expert on the topic, it is difficult for me to make one either. The only thing that I will say is that you need to be aware of the context that this work was written in and the date it was published, 1988. Internet has greatly changed several aspects of the Media since the time this book was published, however (unfortunately) this book is still highly relevant. If you are a Westerner and are unfamiliar with the main thesis of this work, or media studies in general (Edward Bernays for e.g.), then this book might very well revolutionize your understanding of the World that you and everyone one else on this planet lives in. A word of warning for younger readers or those unfamiliar with Chomsky, this is most definitely a work of academic writing. While it is certainly one of the most engagingly written academic works I have read, it of course maintains the necessary objectivity and measured nature of its genre so it might appear dull if you are not experienced with academic literature (use this sentence as an example). If you are worried it might be to dull for you to read, then I would always recommend Orwell's great work of fiction "1984" as a great first book to read as it is universally thrilling.

Read this book!
One of the most important Books in modern media and political theory, especially the first chapter. The book is fantastic however it definitely begins to slow down towards the end (the Vietnam chapter is a bit of a drag) however it's a must read

Second hand book
Arrived quicker than the delivery date stated, so I was delighted! The cover isn't the same as the picture but its the same thing so it doesn't really matter! It is in good condition for a secondhand book, a few dog ears here and there but its not an issue. Very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone looking to buy it.

Great book
This book is a must read for media scholars or anyone interested to understand how mass, mainstream media produce the news reports they do. Under what conditions the journalists work under big media conglomerates, and how those conditions create a certain distinct framework for the news to be reported, selected and framed. The book condition, also, was great and as I was expecting.

Amazing book but writing on this copy is so tiny!
Unfortunately I cannot fully enjoy this edition as the writing is so small it hurts my eyes so sadly a poor print. However the content is 5 stars of what I have read and has been truly necessary and important for anyone interested in how the media and governments operate.Find a better a print.

This book empowers the reader to critically approach all media
Superb book that allows the reader to take a critical, informed approach when reading/viewing various media. Essentially one should treat one's national media in the same way we treat foreign media; with an assumption that claims must be proved and not begin reading with a pre-supposed acceptance that what is written is true.

Fascinating book
Amazing analysis on how Power will go to almost any lengths to preserve, replicate and expand itself mainly focused on the US as the dominant super power capable to destroying small countries just to keep the Neo liberal Capitalist narrative alive while on the other hand perpetuating its colonial chokehold on smaller nations under the guise of "liberating them" from themselves.

Excelente!
