First time in years that I've been able to use only one pillow...
I am not a pillow expert. What I am is one of the millions who deal with chronic migraines and have to be careful what kind of pillow or pillows they use. For years I've mostly used inexpensive extra firm pillows – two at a time – and tried to make sure that I maintain the right height to hopefully prevent tension in my neck and shoulders. I've looked at these cervical pillows before but never had the chance to try one. Until now. The pillow arrived vacuum sealed in a surprisingly small box considering it is a queen size pillow. I took it out – and boy did it start to fluff up as soon as air touched it – and let it rest as instructed for a day or so before putting a pillowcase on it and going to sleep. The pillow and cover seem to be well made. The cover fabric is soft, the zipper works very smoothly, and all seams have been nicely finished. The memory foam lets your head sink down into a little bit but it is firm enough to support it at the same time. I did hold off using it for a little extra time as the memory foam does come with a mildly unpleasant odor that has to wear off or at least down. I did prefer to use a regular pillowcase with this pillow as I am just more comfortable doing so. The first thing I tried was much usual two pillows with the cervical one on top, but my neck started hurting instantly. So, I decided to try it by itself. For the last week or so I have been sleeping with just one pillow for the first time in probably 20+ years. I am still a little shocked by that. I am a tosser and a turner, sleeping on my back and both sides by turns – on rare occasions I have even woken up having flipped over onto to my stomach. I must say that this pillow has completely surprised me as it has had at least some sort of compensation for most of my sleeping habits including liking to tuck my hands under my pillow. I can't really say that is has been a magical solution for me and I'm still learning the ins and outs of this pillow, which side works best for me, etc. but it hasn't hurt my neck so far and I have been impressed with its performance. Now, I just have to see how it does in the long run...

So comfortable!!!
This pillow is so unbelievably comfortable! I'm a side sleeper, so I use the pillow in the side sleeper position, but it also feels pretty good when I'm lying on my back reading or when I prop myself sitting up to watch TV. I do still have some neck pain, but I didn't really expect the pillow to take away all my pain since I don't think its my sleep position causing all the pain. However, this is definitely making my neck feel better than it did when I slept on a regular pillow! So glad I got this! (It's kind of hard to fit into a regular pillow case, but it can be done. Small price to pay for less pain!)

Such comfortable sleep
This pillow is so comfortable! I’ve gotten similar pillows before, but they were not soft enough and it felt like I was laying on a foam block or something. My head really sinks into the material of this pillow and it feels so comfortable whether I’m sleeping on my back, my side, or (god forbid!) my face! I’m lucky enough to not have really bad neck pain yet, but I really feel like this pillow supports my head and neck in a way that will prevent any weird sleep positions. I like that you can use the pillow whichever way is most comfortable for your body, with more or less neck support as needed, and a removable memory foam insert for more height. I use a normal pillowcase over it, but the pillowcase it comes with is also soft and has a breathable cotton feel. It’s a bit pricey, but good sleep is worth the investment!

Disappointment
I have bone spurs in my neck, and it's difficult for me to find a comfortable pillow. On a doctor's advice, I use cervical pillows, so I'm always on the lookout for the perfect cervical pillow. Unfortunately, this one fell far short of my hopes.I tried getting comfortable on the pillow from the center of its highest orientation -- which was too high -- and then from the point opposite that one -- which was too low and too unsupportive. The online description of the pillow says the removable insert offers more options, but removing the insert was a challenge. It involves unzipping the pillow encasement and then pulling apart the little "button" that holds the center of the pillow together. The user guide that comes with the pillow was frustrating; it is just about worthless because of a poor translation. Two examples: "Outer the package and let it flat." "This pillow is moderately soft and firm. The following people please seriously consider whether to leave the cervical pillow. "1. If you usually sleep with pillows that are too soft or too hard . . . . "At any rate, the instructions/information on the Amazon website are much more helpful than the user guide. After pulling apart the button and removing the insert, I tried the pillow again, thinking that the taller section of the pillow might now be better fitted to my height (5'0") and more comfortable to my neck. But with the insert removed, the pillow felt much too flat on the lower section. On the higher section, it now seemed to have chin support but very little neck support. But now I was unable to fasten the "button" in the middle of the pillow again, although I was able to stuff the insert back into its proper position. With or without the insert, I was unable to get to sleep using this pillow. My husband is not nearly as picky as I am when it comes to pillows, but he also found it frustrating. He tried it with and without the insert. With the insert, he found it marginally acceptable when he slept on his back (which is why I gave the pillow two stars), but he said it was uncomfortable when he rolled onto his side. On his side, he said, he felt as if the big "wings" on the pillow were smothering him. He said he would not recommend the pillow. Neither would I.One final note: The information on the website says, "The cervical pillow for neck pain is suitable for side, back, and stomach sleeping." My primary care doctor and a pain doctor that she referred me to both said that sleeping on your stomach can cause neck problems, regardless of the kind of pillow you use.
