What Makes Great Photography: 80 Masterpieces Explained Paperback – Illustrated, 26 Sept. 2013

Saw this book at a photographic exhibition at the Barbican but forgot to go back to purchase. Great book, glad amazon had it!

Great read.

Analysis of images and how messages expressed Okay but for me " Not critical enough"on Composition, Content, expression or Process in expressing the title.when compared with " Great Art " series.

Although I only got the book today, I am immediately impressed by the layout: There is a description of the photograph, a short paragraph about the artist and her/his work, a quotation from them and some suggestions of what other photographs to look out for. As a new photographer, it is already inspiring me to get out there with my camera.

Short but interesting criticism of the photographs(I wish the text was always in landscape format)

Interesting images but lightweight analysis.

This is a wonderful book for look at photography as an art. Nice descriptions and good insights into the portraits.

This book and "When Photography Really Works" are the same book with a different cover. They are advertised together, and I ordered both only to find this out after. I don't trust this author in the slightest anymore.
