Rite Aid Ichthammol Ointment - 1 Ounce (28.3 g) - 1 Count - 10 Percent Ichthammol Ointment

To the person that wrote this product kills skin cells and left them with necrotic skin cells, I find that hard to believe unless they had a condition that would have contraindicated use of this product. Necrotic tissue is a result of disease or injury, not using an ointment like ichthammol.That being said, my Mom used this stuff on us kids anytime we had a deep splinter or thorn. Just put a dot on top, cover with a bandaid and by morning the splinter would be out, sitting on top of the bandaid. I’m so glad I found this on Amazon, as chain pharmacies don’t seem to carry products like this. I developed an inflammation of what looked like a bug bite on my inner thigh and didn’t think much of it until within a day, it started swelling up and became painful. I ordered ichthammol and over night it drew out a whole bunch of nastiness. Applied a 2nd application with a gauze pad and large bandaid. I hope this will clear up in the next day or 2. Will update once I get through the treatment, but the swelling in the irritated area has gone down to maybe half of what it was.UPDATE: I used this ointment twice a day for almost 2 weeks and once a day for a week (finally was able to go down to a standard bandaid size the last few days), and all signs of swelling and infection are completely gone. Whatever this was, swelled up to the size of a golf ball and wasn’t draining or coming to a head on its own. Ichthammol helped it do that and kept it protected as it’s antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. It’s finally healing and should be bandaid-free in the next few days. Great product, can’t say enough about it.I also did more research on the person that stated ichthammol killed their skin cells. That’s impossible, and I have a feeling they actually used one of the black salve products, which is very different from ichthammol. Black salve sounds like it can be dangerous and I would personally never use that. Ichthammol on the other hand, thumbs up, and really works well.

Guest had a nasty growth and said they needed drawing salve. Never heard of it, I was all for them going to a dr, but I found on amazon and in one day there was marked improvement. I won’t say I am a lifelong convert because I never want what they had but it worked on the boils

Its black, smell like asphalt or kind of the smell. But if you have a boil on your body, it surely will heal up until nothing in it. I had a boil as big as half of my punch on my back and don't have any head on it, so I couldn't break it and don't know what medicine can cure it.Then I searched for boil ointment or medicine in Amazon and found this Rite aid ichthammol ointment, I have nothing to lose and just bought it to tried and use on my boil. Who know in 3-4 days used the head come out on it, my wife help to press it. And after press it still not yet cure since the boil so big and I keep put the ointment on it, until 7 days it broke and all the liquid come out from the boil, and after that I put the ointment 2 more day and this time without cover it with any tape and cotton. It really dried, now the big boil on my back gone, just still have dry skin on it but no boil anymore.Thanks a lot, its help alot and now I can sleep on my back again, before that almost 2 month every night I slept on my side. I will recommend this ointment to friends and family if they need it.

I used it on a small cyst (maybe 1.5cm) on my neck for about 2 weeks. It did make the cyst shrink but there's still a bump there. It also discolored (like a chemical burn) the skin around the cyst which eventually peeled off like sunburn. Still some discoloration so I'm dealing with that now. The remainder of the cyst will probably have to be cut out which I was hoping to avoid.It did work well on a puncture wound on my thumb I got from a drill, though.Overall, this isn't a miracle cure for deep cysts but it does help bring the infection closer to a head and eventually shrink the bump. If you like the smell of grease, you'll love the smell of this (I know I do).

Had ordered globe brand. It didn’t smell like sulfur! Had no scent. I called amazon, they refunded me. I ordered this, since i’ve used it before. My mom used this when i was a child. Wonderful stuff. I’m a retired pharmacist. If i have a sliver, i can put this on, and in the morning, the sliver will pop right out. I used it on a recurring boil my son had. Very tight with pus. Excruciatingly painful. Told him not to get it lanced again. I put this on a bandage. By morning, pain was less, pus not so full. Changed bandage. He had almost complete relief in around 24 hours. In 3 days, the boil was flat. Changed bandage twice a day. This pulls the fluid through the skin. No need to lance.

This ointment works wonders on getting splinters out. Just put it on and cover it with a band aid. The splinter works it's way out with no pain. If you have little ones this ointment is a must have for your first aid kit.

So the pictures say a thousand words.After slacking off with my shaving, my body chose to reward me with a sizeable ingrown hair cyst on my neck. I had about 4 ingrown hairs deep in the cyst. I did the warm washcloth method, with limited success. My wife managed to pull out the hairs, but the cyst remained.I chose to get Ichthammol and followed the directions: bandaid filled with the smelly stuff and apply to the cyst. Do that twice daily (put a towel on your pillow in case of any messy drawing). I used the stuff for 3 days and the cyst is officially outta here as of this morning.Stuff smells in life. Get over it and take care of the boil/ingrown hair/cyst/splinter/glass shard etc.
