*WheeWhoo* 'I Didn't do it!'
Let's talk about this cameras unique characteristics. If you are used to your setup including a variety of Amcrest cameras like myself, you know there's all kinds of opportunities for quality on the market.Amcrest has created this UltraHD 4k Turret type camera for use over the ethernet cord. That feature will always amaze my technological gut.The fact that it is sending audio, video, and alarm signals across an ethernet cord is mind blowing.Yes, I said alarm signals! This is a key new feature I have not seen from a few past Amcrest cameras I have pridefully used. You can literally wire it into a pre built alarm system on your home, or NVR, and it will activate when the system does. The alarm signals and delivers a cheesy high frequency sound, and flares red and blue lights to confuse your target. This feature alone, really made me want to install an alarm system in this ancient house! Another project for the books.Manually triggering the alarm is a handy feature for testing purposes. My main downfall on this type of camera, is the inability to maneuver the lens in all directions, and it is extremely difficult to adjust to your preferred liking.but once again, the case is a solid object and the build quality is appreciated.while installing. Some sort of lock and release trigger would be appreciated for ease of access.A pure 30FPS across the 4k is potentially what brings this cameras value go up higher than your average Turret made by Amcrest. When you are a quality tuned technological human, the satisfaction is felt.Another key feature that I have only seen on one or two other Amcrests before provided on this PoE camera is a Fog clearing feature.Living in the Mountains, we don't get much fog, but occasionally there can be a haze. The main thing I have noticed with this feature, is it actually brings some colorful life to the image, and shows some vivid details. This camera is the last of all my cameras to activate its night vision, which means it can literally capture more light for longer times. That is exciting, because it'll look dark outside, but light on the camera, and the night vision isn't on.You can feel the bubble effect of this lens when you look at the edges. This camera has held a constant reliable connection on my network, and has not cried for help once.If your seeking efficient quality, and have a little extra to fork out, I can fully recommend using this camera and its offered features.

Love love love this camera!
This new Amcrest camera (model IP8M-DT3949EW-3AI) has been a delight to install and use. I received the camera packaged with care, and with all of the necessary parts. It does not come with a PoE adapter, but I knew that when making the purchase. After unboxing the camera, I was immediately impressed by the build quality: this is not a cheap plastic device. I installed it outside on my front porch with ease, and connected it to an ethernet cable powered by a 802.3af PoE adapter. The camera acquired an IP address from my DHCP server, and I logged-in with the default credentials, which I changed immediately after logging in. The configuration of the camera is straight-forward, and I truly appreciate that Amcrest has standardized the overall configuration experience for all of the cameras in their ecosystem. I gave the camera a static IP address, and integrated it with my Synology surveillance station without any issues. Two features that I definitely enjoy about this camera: 1. The AI presence detection is great. No more false alerts from older technologies like motion detection, which could be overly sensitive to things like light or shadow changes. This camera fires an event when the postal delivery worker arrives on my front porch to deliver the mail, or when I receive a package delivery from a delivery courier. I really enjoy that function. 2. I did not know that this was a feature until I set it off, but I really, really like the strobing red-and-blue LED on the camera, when it detects an event. I configured it so that this would only occur during the evening and night. When triggered, it looks like the flashing lights of a police car! What a great deterrent control!I had no trouble with configuring anything in the camera web interface, as this is not my first Amcrest device. That said, for a newcomer to these devices, there may be a slight learning curve. No worries, though, as Amcrest's online documentation (downloadable in PDF format) really covers all of the configuration options. And, there is an online support forum where anyone can ask for additional help. This camera was a little pricier than some other models, but the overall build quality of the device, in addition to the options provided for connectivity, and the added features (like the AI detection, and red and blue LED) made it worth it for me. If you want a well-built, configurable, outdoor PoE camera, this is the one to buy.

Good Poe camera
The packaging is excellent and the camera is very safe inside the box, the quick start guide is good at explaining how to make an account and adding the camera. The quick start guide should also have some information about this camera like ( what voltage the DC jack requires, what the audio cables are a needed for and the alarm wires ) and how to connect the camera to your network, the template for mounting the camera is a good thing to have along with the hardware to mount it. The camera has a high quality feel to it and the cable for the connections is made very well, the video quality is great in day and night. The flashing red and blue light is interesting to have on the camera but I don’t know how much of a deterrent it would be, the fill light is very bright and lights up a good sized area in front of the camera and the siren is very loud. Overall I think this a very nice camera but may be a little to much for a home, this would be a great camera for a business or warehouse due to the extra connections for an alarm output. I would recommend this camera for commercial use if any body asked.

Work really well in 4K
This model was easy to in-app set up and took about 5 minutes. The mounting and adjusting took about 30 minutes (I already had a PoE ethernet cable in that location). The camera has a very practical adjustment with just one screw. You can rotate the camera to literally any angle and axis. All cast metal construction is very strong and durable. Video is pretty clear in 4K, and the microphone is pretty decent with loud internal speaker. The speaker can be used for alarm siren or for prerecorded messages or you can talk thought it using the app. The camera constantly streamed to my Synology Surveillance Station and correctly marked motion detection.Sometimes AI falsely detects people. It may be just my particular setup (I have a tree in the camera's field of view) so I turned off automatic alarm announcement as not to disturb the neighbors but I scheduled warning light for the night time. If you would like to dive deeper into settings there are plenty of them in web interface. Just enter the camera IP-address in your browser.I'm very pleased with it, i have it mounted for my front porch. Despite the AI issue, it’s hard to beat the price and image clarity and especially ease of adjustment.

This a super cool camera! Active Deterrant feature is pretty slick!
I replaced an older IP8M-T2499EW-28MM turret 4K camera with this one that was on my porch. I actually attached a picture(stone column) and this camera(on the left) has a clearer, brighter picture with better color than the IP8M-T2499EW-28MM. It also does 30fps instead of 15fps which is super nice as the image is much smoother. One of the main reasons I got this camera was the 'active deterrent' feature to deter would be package thieves if a package got left on my porch while I was gone. It has a really bright red and blue flasher that will flash with a loud and pretty (and startling) siren. So at night between the hours between 11PM and 7AM if a person approaches my porch the lights will flash, and then I manually turn on another rule(the rules are a little tricky to configure but totally fine once you get the hang of it) that I created that activates the siren and the lights. So far I haven't had any falses, but it works great! I think my only knock on this camera is that the microphone isn't as good as some of my other Amcrest cameras. The first thing I do is turn off the audio filter, and even with this one disabled it still doesn't sound as good. But over all, pretty cool camera and I might get a second one for my driveway.
