The USA Sports by Troy Barbell 300 pound. Olympic Weight Set with Chrome Bar is a great way to start working out. The set comes with 14 USA Sports Olympic plates, a 7 foot chrome Olympic bar and two spring collars to secure the weight plates on the bar. Experience USA Sports quality Olympic 2 inch plates, with rims and radius edges that are milled for comfort. The machine bored holes help protect the bar and facilitate easier plate loading and removal. All plates have raised silver numbers and letters for fast, easy selection and are a grey enamel finish. All plates are consistent in weight, size and quality.

Great value with some minor quips
I ordered this on March 12th and the product was delivered on March 30th. It was a little bit later than I would have hoped (I hoped to get it in time to setup a home gym in anticipation of COVID-19 shutdowns) but considering that most fitness equipment is now out of stock, I can't be too disappointed.Onto to the actual set itself. The barbell is alright; it is apparently rated for up to 600 lbs. I've only put on 365 lbs so far for deadlifts and it doesn't have any noticeable bend to it so that much is probably true. The sleeves of the barbell don't match up well with the bar though so it rattles occasionally. This doesn't appear to be an issue yet but I will update this review if it does. The higher quality barbell is why I chose to get this set instead of the cheaper CAP and Dick's Sporting Good sets (those are only rated up to 300 lbs and have issues with metal splinters apparently). As for the weights, they are a good value for the price but do have some issues. First, they are designed so that there are small grooves on one side of the plate while the other side is completely smooth. This makes picking them up somewhat cumbersome as you have very little space to grip the plates. I can grip around 200 lbs in each hand and I found lifting the 45 lb plates to be difficult. Also, the 45 lb plates are a different diameter than plates I bought from another company (CAP). I'm not sure which of these companies is producing "standard" sized plates, so it's possible that CAP is at fault here rather than Troy but the size discrepancy does make deadlifting long-term more worrisome as the force is no longer being evenly distributed across the bar and the weights and instead concentrated on fewer plates (and a smaller region of the barbell accordingly).Overall, the set is pretty good for the money and great option for someone starting off with a home gym; if you have a large budget, you might want to get something else though.

Great set
In the few weeks I've been using these weights I've made a lot of progress trimming up. There is enough variety in size of the weights that you don't have to use odd combinations to fill out a set. I especially appreciate the 2.5lbs weights as this makes it easier to go up in increments of 5's. The bar seems really good, and allows the weights to rotate independently of the grip portion of the bar, which helps keep things stable and helps movement when setting with plates on the floor. The little weight clamps are sufficient (kind of a tight fit) but I didn't like how they were shaving the bar and switched to a different type of clamp. These weights ship free, which makes them desirable for those of us who don't want to pay shipping and handling for this... however the freight cost is baked into the cost of the set at the time of my purchase which means if you can find a local sporting goods store such as Dicks or Sports Authority, you may be able to get the same set of similar quality for about $100 less. I didn't regret my purchase when I found that out, but it's something to keep in mind for future purchases.

Great set for the home gym
I had issues with delivery - the bar was initially lost and came almost a full week later - but this it otherwise a fantastic set, and Troy's customer service is really great. Gets the job done, arrived in perfect condition (though the packaging was kinda filthy from shipment). The grip on the barbell is perfect, even for my tiny hands (I'm 5'3, 97 lbs). The clips take a bit of finagling to get on, but it's so much better than my old weight set where I'd worry about things coming loose. You deeeefinitely do need a weight tree to deal with the weights - they're a little slippery and there's no lip to grab them when they're just hanging out on the floor - but I prefer using a weight tree than stacking things in a bin anyways.

Absolutely GREAT weight set
Absolutely GREAT weight set! In addition, I was very much impressed with the Olympic Bar, which has the right amount of knurling to help maintain a solid grip. I am very happy with this set and would highly recommend it!

Awesome set for my home Gym.
Nice set, glad I made the purchase. The plates are cast iron which carries some blemishes which is expected. Quality bar from what I can tell. Great value for the price.

Great starter set
This is a very good weight set for starting a home gym. The barbell is rated for higher capacity than the barbells that come with similar sets at Dick's or Sports Authority; other barbells of this capacity that I found online cost about $90. With that subtracted from the cost of the set, the plates came in at less than $1 per pound, which is a fantastic rate. The plates are in perfect condition without chips or scratches. The spring clips that come with it are just fine, but I bought some Muscle Clamps for easier use.My only gripe is that the weights are slightly off of their expected weights; some weigh up to a pound more or less than they should. However, I'm weighing them on a bathroom scale, which isn't very accurate. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt to the weights and giving the product five stars.

I bought these at a good price so I could workout whenever I had time at home. I don't slam weights around and workout on a carpeted area in my basement so I can't imagine I will wear these out or damage them.
