Setting the interpupillary distance (PD)Since the distance between the two eyes (more precisely: the distance between the centres of the pupils) is different for different people, the two eyepieces of the binoculars must be set correctly. This is called "setting the pupillary distance". Hold the binoculars (with both hands) before your eyes and look through the binoculars at an object in the distance. Move the two halves of the binoculars on the joint until you see a clear image circle with both eyes.FocusingSince most people have different prescriptions in the left and right eye, the focusing system must be set.
