Ok...when I opened this, I said "WOW". This defrosting plate looks really cool. I had one from a decade ago which was a piece of cast-iron plate. This item is slim, sleek, and looks super high-tech. It reminds me of a heat-sink for the CPU chip (ok...i'm a geek).What's more exciting is that it does it's job well....much faster than I remember from my old defroster. Tried it with frozen chicken pieces, salmon, pork. Definitely work the money!

I've used this product several times now and am still amazed at how nicely it works.I even tested it the other day....i had two packages of the same frozen item. I put one on the tray and the other beside it. The one on the tray thawed in half the time.

After using it on the first day it took only two hours to defrost two sirloin steaks. Granted if you know anything about cold transfer to metal this should give you an idea about how the product works. The defrosting plate takes the cold (as much as it can) from the meat. If the environment you have is cold it will never defrost. So when the plate reaches its max cold, place it in a area where heat can disperse. I placed the plate in the sun which effectively caused the meat to defrost. For the price and effective use. I would rate this product five stars!

Replaced a cheaper unit that lasted ten years before pealing. This one is much better. It has a peal proof surface and back ribs to increase heat transfer to the air. It is hard to believe how fast it thaws.

This does de-frost, but it took almost 2 hours for 2 frozen breasts, or 2 steaks to thaw. It does keep all the vitamins which is better than thawing in water. But if you want it fast, this is not the answer!

The tray is quite marvelous. It really does defrost meat very quickly. She has recommended it to others.

Does not really work any faster than tossing the item in a bowl of water.

Very good product, easy to clean, easy to use, very good material.
