Shimano 22 SLX DC XT Scorpion bass Fishing Reel Japan Import

Took a bit to figure out what lines and lures worked best. Not as difficult to bird nest as higher end Shimano DC reels, but is reduced compared to non DC reels. Works best with high end 20 to 30 lb braid. Fluro 12-15lb and co-poly 12-15 lb fair better than any mono if necessary. On the lighter end for lures seems to be around 12 grams, can go lighter if you like a challenge, but takes decent thumb control. Of course if you use anything between 1/2 oz and 1 oz, she’ll sing for you, with rarely bird nesting and little to no thumbing necessary. Arrived greased up and ready to be spooled up, no scratches and well protected in OEM retail box. No oil included, Shimano has stopped that recently. The shipping speed was decent from Japan. JP models are better tuned than US equivalents, I’m not sure why they do this, but it is what it is and worth it to pay a little more for even the Malaysian JP models. Construction and performance is good, but again, not as good as the higher end Shimano reels;good budget option if you can’t afford $600+ though, and a good reel to learn how to use a bait caster on. I have it paired with a 6’6” Falcon Bucoo SR MH, MF rod for now, out of what I have it’s what she seems to do best with for distance and hookset. Handles 2-5 lb bass and cats fairly well, so far just what I’ve caught with her, I’m sure she could handle double digit fish just fine. I will say no drag noise feels weird and is missed, though it’s not really necessary if you have equipment in hand and feel the fish peeling your line.

The build quality is excellent and the reel is very smooth. The reel was just misidentified as a scorpion version. This is a Shimano SLX DC XT and not a Scorpion DC.

I used this right out of the box 2 casts both times with max brakes horrible backlash on both casts instantly lost 20 dollars in lures and now I only have half a spool of line left on the thing I got the brakes to work twice both times still got backlash even on max settings and now I'm down over 50 dollars in lure + the line 20 lb power pro and now I'm returning this to see if they make it right

ハードロックフィッシュでベイトリールを2台使用しており、そのうちの1台です。10回ほど釣行で使用しましたが、PEラインの1号〜1.2号を使用でライントラブルはありません。ブレーキ設定を強めから下げていくやり方で釣行しているからかもしれませんが、トラブルレスで快適です。投げ方やサミングなどの基本動作の練習は必要ですが、機体自体に関しては、初めてベイトリールを使う方にとてもオススメです。キジハタ35センチの巻取りも問題なく対応できましたので、太いラインが必要な険しい磯場やモンスター級のロックフィッシュ狙いでなければ、普段使いにまったく問題ないと感じます。重さも特に気になりません。価格と品質から見ると「買い」かなと思います。

だいたいベイトリールを買う目的が、実用性にあるとは個人的には思えません。カッコいいからです。音が良いからです。釣りは下手でも道具がカッコよくて満足することもまた趣味の一つでは無いでしょうか。ゴルフクラブを最高級なものを買ったところでブラアマに出られる人は限られています。そんなものです。カッコいい。音が良い。それの次に性能です。気に入ったら買うべきです。物欲は満たされます。

バックラッシュをしないのが売りのDC機だと思い購入して、1.5号のPEを巻いて使いましたが、鬼バックラッシュが続き、あえなくライン交換。太めのナイロン2.5号にして、もう大丈夫だろうと使用しましたが、バックラッシュは普通にします。何のためにDC機を買ったのか、意味がわからないです。
