Good book but some serious issues!
UPDATE The publisher has contacted me to apologise and sent a link to the downloads which are now available.I bought this book to learn more about designing laser cut files, having already done a short course that gave me a basic grounding. I wanted a step-by-step guide to cutting and engraving a variety of materials. I accepted that as a CorelDraw/Windows user (for embroidery and machine cutwork) there might be a bit of translation to do and also from Mac and Illustrator. However, the download of the files required to follow the tutorials should have had me off to a flying start. Sadly, no files are available and I have had no response from the publisher. I had to recreate the designs from scratch which I wasn't very pleased about as it wasted a lot of my time to get to the start of the tutorial. So, if you have Illustrator and use a Mac and don't mind starting from scratch to get the files you need then go ahead. If you are an embroiderer like me and are stuck with Windows and CorelDraw, then be sure you have enough skill and understanding to be able to translate across programs. However, there are some good points. The first tutorial explains how to make a repeating pattern which is useful to know. It also takes you through digital pattern making for a top. There are some nice actual products to make too. So generally I am happy but it would have got 5 stars if the publisher had made available the files it says you can download on the front cover!
