Billionaire Boy [DVD]

Another masterpiece adaptation for TV from David Walliams’ classic novel of the same name.Here the most notable and biggest star is the great Warwick Davis (as handsome as ever) as the butler to the ‘Spuds’ after they’ve made their fortune in ‘Bum fresh’!!I think there’s far more tear-jerking moments in this tale than the other TV movie adaptations, and many of the best comedy has been left in the book, like the ambiguity of the genders of the ‘Grubb’ twins – and they don’t appear as much either, and the missing ‘Raj-Mobile’ and so on , but as Mr. Walliams has already explained when interviewed; the whole exact story of any novel is impossible to bring to the screens exactly, and some changes do have to be made accordingly. However, do not let this detract from what still is a GREAT TV movie, but is probably the most different from the novels to date in comparison to previous works I think.Walliams of course makes his usual ‘cameo’ appearance as the unforgettable ‘Mrs. Trafe (absolutely hilarious!!) and Raj pops up too, but for me, this is every bit the usual Walliams TV classic we have come to expect!Five stars! (can’t wait to see ‘Awful Auntie’ this coming Christmas!!)

Great film...my kids were glued!

My daughter finished reading Billionaire Boy and wanted to see the TV adaptation so we purchased it on Amazon.She really enjoyed the show as much as she did the book.I've not read the book but the show is excellent, with a good cast and plenty of cringe worthy moments as well as some good funny bits too.Walliams of course plays a role as the dinner lady at the school and plays it very well. John Thompson and Katherine Tate are excellent and hats off to Warrick Davies who plays the sympathetic and understanding butler.All round good fun family entertainment.

I bought Billionaire Boy for my children 9 and 7 who absolutely love David Walliams and his books and films. I must confess I do too and loved sitting down with them and watching this movie. Great fun for all the family.

Very fast postage and fun film. Little boy loves it.

This story isn't the best of David Walliams' books for children although the cast can't be faulted for their performances, especially from the young leads.

We purchased this dvd as a present for a Christmas gift for a family member.

typical rags to riches and back with all the trauma but all in all not a bad film

What a fantastic movie with a twist on money. A poor factory worker comes up with a profitable idea and boom he's rich. His son on the other hand is OK with it, but find it's hard to make friends once they learn who he is. After leaving a private school to go back to a public school he finally finds some happiness until his father finds out forgot his homework and makes an epic embarrassing delivery in his helicopter. The show is witty and fun, right to the end when dad loses it all and ends up with the woman he used to work with in his factory life before the riches. Great show, a must see.
