I like it but there's one thing to be careful of
I'm not a huge knife buff, meaning I know it's better to have separate sharpening stones and what-not, but I really just don't want to put that much into my knives. This was a great solution for me and my new set of global knives. It kind of teaches you what stones to use and how to use it, it also holds your blades at the correct angles to ensure a sharp edge. However, there is one thing that i've noticed, and it may totally be user error, but i wanted to point it out:After sharpening my knives a few times, I noticed that on the face of the the knives, near the front end and handle area, there are some scuff marks that come from the sharpener. I don't know how this affects anything, but it doesn't look great on my knives. They're hard to see but it irks me, and I'm not sure of the long term affect. Again, this may be user error? Although, I've read the instructions and tried to be very careful.either way, I like this sharpener, it fits easily into my drawer and it's easy to wash. Who knows, I may end up upgrading to full sharpening stones and the like eventually, but this is a great item for those that are new to this.

Works well.
I bought a set of Global knives many years ago. I stopped using them because they became dull and I needed a "special" sharpener that I had to buy. 10 plus years later, I bought this sharpener and it worked great to bring a nice edge back to my knives.I worry a bit about the hard plastic guide scuffing the side of my blades so I do pay attention to the knife not touching it. Also, with the angle of the grinding wheels and how the knife contacts them, it doesn't bring a degree of certainty that my motion is what it should be to get the best sharpened edge. Over time and seeing how the knife performs should help teach me.I would definitely buy this again even with the caveats. .

Works great for my Global Knifes
I spent over $200 on flat stones to sharpen my knifes but it is difficult and I never got the art down so I ordered this. It is very easy to use and really does work. The only issue I have is this can't sharpen paring knifes or really small knifes it seems. I had the same problem with the wet stones as well however. Also it is so much easier and faster to use. Easy cleanup too. Highly recommended.

Closest match to a wetstone
I already have one of these in black and red. Not that the color really matters. What matters is that this is a really good sharpener. If you are going to invest in Global knives then this is a must have. It doesn't matter how nice of a knife you buy, it will need sharpening eventually. It's very easy to use and will have your knives gliding through anything you touch them to just like the day you first used them. The water trough is a nice touch because it really helps to wet up the grit of sharpening stones. Some people have complained about this sharpener scratching the side of their knives. It does leave a bit of a line, but it is not bad at all. Can't really comment on how this sharpener does with other higher end knives. I have a cheapo small knife that gets a really nice edge from this tool. So I imagine it must work on almost any knife. All the rest of my knives are Globals and it works like magic on them.

My First Sharpener
I received a global knife as a gift from my husband, which I enjoy using tremendously, but after awhile it just got a bit dull, a tech at Sur La Table recommended this Sharpener, but I left the store and didn't buy it, for some reason I wasn't convinced, and I wasn't expecting it to cost this much. Few weeks later, I kept thinking that I should've bought it, so I went online I read some reviews, and I ordered it right away. When I received it, I was having a ball sharpening all my knifes, (I got tired after awhile) But the results were incredible, my global knife was like a dream, sliced thru that tomato same as the brand new knife I took out of the box. I'm extremely happy I ended up buying this item. I was braging so much about it to my mom, I decided to buy one for her. Well worth my money, twice.

Does a pretty good job . . .
The Minosharp 3 sharpener does a pretty good job of putting an edge on knives. The knives are certainly sharp enough afterward to do just about any cutting/dicing/slicing you need to do.Is it a new edge quality? No, not really. But it is good enough. And the good thing about it is thatsharpening a knife is really easy and quick. It's all about time and effort and this thing does save timeand does reduce effort. However, the unit is somewhat pricey at around $80. So I give it a rating of 4 andwill update if my mind changes any.

Excellent Knife Sharpener!
I bought this sharpener with good reviews from my cousin whom is a head chef. He owns only global knives and it works considerably well with them. I also sharpened an old set of Maxam knives that I had gotten from a thrift store that needed to be sharpened. It took a little bit (about 15 mins for the worst one), for them to become razor sharp. I did the paper test before and they wouldn't even begin to slice at any point of the knives. After sharpening they were like a factory edge that you can do thin slices on a tomatoe. It is just an amazing product! Excellent shipping time too! Came 5 days earlier than tracking said it would!

Love mine, gave one as a gift
After the investment in high end knives, having a high quality sharpener seemed a no-brainer. Unlike my old Chef's Choice electric sharpener, the knife is not scratched, scraped or damaged during sharpening. It's so easy to use that I keep it with my knives and always start with a razor sharp edge - which I find much safer than forcing a dull knife through food.
