This guide covers the new Calculus Option (previously Series and Differential Equations). It is a separate section of the exam and generally it is the last part of the syllabus to be covered, and therefore it is often the part least revised. The Options contain more advanced Mathematics than the core. As It is worth 20% of the final marks, it merits special attention. The exam on the Option is a separate one-hour paper so candidates can really concentrate on it. There is no doubt that the first four sections of this part of the syllabus are difficult, but it is likely that many of the marks will be on the differential equations section and the Maclaurin and Taylor series, which are far more straightforward. This is a revision guide and not a complete course. There are definitions of all the terms, many words sound like ordinary English but have a very precise meaning in Mathematics. There are worked examples included also.
