Excellent light coverage, but battery life a letdown.
Bought these to light up a corridor during the night to avoid collisions with doors and objects laying about. Here is a quick rundown of the pro's and con's.Requires two AA batteries accessible from the front. Upon switching to Auto, they will light up regardless of top switch setting. This should at least allow you to test whether the lights work properly.Positives:Brighter than competitor. Compared to the Tecknet motion lights  I bought, these provide a brighter albeit harsher light (if positioned eye height, it can be intense) coverage to a room. The light turns on for about 20 seconds, and will "reset" it's timer when it detects significant motion. In other words, constantly moving in front of it once it has turned on will keep it turned on even past 20 seconds.Offers greater versatility. The top of the device has a switch (facing you and from left to right - continuous, day and night) and the bottom has a switch for "off" an "auto". When turned on by moving the switch to auto, you can either have the light left on continuously, turn on when motion is detected regardless of current light conditions, or switch on when motion and darkness is detected. You can order a single device - If you need one, you only need to pay for one and are not forced into buying a pack and then need to store the others afterwards.Neutral:I can't comment on production reliability as I have only bought 3 of these devices and upon receiving them, tested them and they all appeared fine, so I won't say you will receive a working item for definite, but these haven't stopped working on me yet.Above I have talked about the duration of the light when it's activated, but once it stops, there seems to be a delay of about 5 seconds regardless of motion where the light will not come on. I think this is by design and not fault, so as to conserve battery life but I feel this may be an area of importance to others. There is a single use sticky pad to adhere the light to the wall without damaging it. They are strong but you need to be careful not to pull it when taking out the batteries which are placed in the front and not the back which would be very problematic. Alternatively you can use scews to secure these if you wish - there are slots you can insert onto the screws and slide down.Negatives:The light threshold designed to detect at which point it has turned from day to night conditions is quite low. Meaning it will turn the lights even during shade where the use of lights would be considered unnecessary. I believe this is one of two reasons for the following negative point. The batteries drain fairly quickly. Where I have them located is in a highly active footpath area and will come on a couple of times each day. I have noticed this to cause quite a dramatic drop in light intesity in just a period of a month requiring a new set of batteries. For that reason, I highly recommend buying low self discharge rechargeables otherwise you'll be paying out a lot of money each month if you go for alkaline disposables. Alternatively position it in an area where you want lighting but where it's still quite bright towards the end of the day.Not suitable for outdoor use.Not the prettiest looking thing. It's cheap looking and feeling.Battery cover can be quite difficult to take off. You need to squeeze the sides of the cover (which protrudes out slightly) together and lift it off one side first followed by the other. The batteries themselves are far more difficult matter. I've only been able to pry them out gently using a flat headed screwdriver. For this price, they are a good value. However a few minor tweaks and they will be a lot better.

LED Light with Auto Sensor Motion Detector
These little lights are terrific value for the money (discount price not full). The 8 LEDs pack a real punch for the size of them and light up quite a reasonable area. Do not forget to switch the unit off before changing the batteries or they will pack that real punch into your eyeballs. The sensor is quite reactive and comes on at a surprisingly high level of light - one that I could certainly still see to read in.The images all show a white housing but mine are silver coloured. The cover has a hole in the centre that allows the sensor to stand proud with no interference.I have placed one against the skirting board directly opposite where my feet land as I 'jump' out of bed. That way I am not surprised, in the dark, by anything I carelessly left in the way. The other I have tucked up the side of my pillow so, if I need to reach out for a drink in the dark, it comes on and I can immediately see the glass I am reaching for, rather than knocking it flying. Neither of these are the uses I had planned so I am already placing another order for more.Cons: One thing I would say is that the plastic covering is a bit of a tight fit so I can foresee the clips snapping off at some stage, they seem to come out better at one side than the other but that may just be imagination. Secondly, the battery housing is really tight with no flexibility and I have difficulty getting them out and in. In the end I had to resort to using a butter knife as a prise. Thirdly, there is a gap in the housing under the spring that forms the negative terminal. As you push the battery into place the spring can get pushed into that gap and fail to make a good contact. I have found it better to compress the spring, with a fine screwdriver, in advance rather than using the end of the battery to force it back as I push it into place.

About the best of its type I've tried
Just received it, its working, this is not a long term test and these things have a habit of failing but so far so good.A feature of the design I particularly like is that it uses 2x AA cells rather than the more common 3x AAA cells, so more capacity, more commonality and no awkward odd numbers of batteries left over. I also like that the controls are accessible on the outside though I would have liked selectable duration.Bright enough to pick out the stairs say or the main light switch. It mounts via 2 screw holes underneath the batteries. The product description calls this "anti-theft". Perhaps, but in the home I'd prefer an easily demounted magnetic mounting system. There are also 2 keyhole mounting slots. I'd have liked a paper template to help get the keyhole screw positions right. The batteries are accessed with the unit in-situ by removing the transparent cover.Note that the cheapest offers for this item are Far East dispatch. While I like this for its 2xAA batteries and external controls I gave this model 5 stars for build quality and magnetic mounting...
