Fundamentally sound instructional technique, often neglected by others.
I was a technical instructor in the USAF for a number of years. Part of my own training as an instructor, was this mantras: Tell them what you're going to tell them, tell them, and then tell them what you told them. I find it comforting and refreshing that this 3 step practice is used throughout this text. It really lays a great foundation for the excellent concepts contained within.

Best blues instruction book I've found.
Ross knocked this one out of the park. Very well written book that doesn't assume that you are at any certain level to start. Great explanations of his reasoning in choosing these concepts. Also, the examples emphasize the note choices instead of the speed at which they are played. We all know that Ross can play fast, but he knows that we may not be able to, so his instruction is not an ego show but instead is a very sound foundation for interesting blues soloing. The book is of high quality, and the examples are all tabbed out very well. It gets you away from memorizing licks and actually teaches you how to get out of the box. The videos and backing tracks are a great practice aid too. I did his bulletproof guitar course too. Ross is one of the best and most modest teachers out there. You will learn from this book. Guaranteed.

Great book!
I ordered the paperback version and am I glad I did. The quality of the book is up there with Cherry Lane and Hal Leonard tab books. NOT cheap at all. Ross's forward is really inspiring and well written. The lessons are great and have helped me reinvigorate my playing since Ive been stuck for a while and getting bored with my playing. After 35 years playing this is the kind of book I want to refresh my memory on playing the notes and not just licks. I honestly cant believe this was only $20 bucks. He could charge 5 more and I would buy it. It now sits next to my favorites, Rikki Rooksby -How to write Songs on Guitar, and The Heavy Guitar Bible The first book i got as a kid in 85. Great work Ross!

A useful book
I got this book only yesterday, and I have just looked through it. I have been a hobby blues picker for several years, and this book has a lot of useful and practical info all brought together in one book. For anyone willing to study & work at it, I highly recommend it. Money well spent for my use. 🎸🎼

Great Concepts and ideas
This is a great improvisation book, for blues guitar players. I really like the video and jam track access on line. The only negative thing is the TABS IN THE BOOK are small and lightly printed. it is hard to read. I wish it would be a larger font and darker ink. otherwise- still worth the admission price.

Beyond Pentatonic Blues Guitar- Review
Once I got delivery of "Beyond Pentatonic Blues Guitar" and began downloading the Files and Videos, this course stood out as "Definitely the Best Bang for the Buck $" if you want to learn to play the blues and get good at it. I also purchased Ross Campbell's "Bulletproof Guitar Player" course because Ross has a lot to say and teach. These files are big but you can watch them from the link provided or download them. He starts slow for beginners, all the way up to advanced players level. I love it....

Extremely Helpful
This book does exactly what it says it will do. You will gain knowledge of the blues progression that I have not seen anywhere else in print and I have many books on blues playing/theory. In my opinion this book will give you PHD level knowledge of blues improvisation.

Top of the line blues guitar teacher
This is what I been looking for. I can tell Ross lives what he teaches and he’s put a lot of thought into this book. I’ve been playing for many years and always struggled playing chord changes. This book has truly changed the way I look at approaching blues guitar solos. It's nothing but the truth when it comes to Ross' guitar skills!

Really good!
Some of the best guitar instructional material I've ever seen. The accompanying videos and tabs really seals the deal. Have a look at his YouTube channel if you're still unsure. There are a few "a-ha" moments here and there, so you really have to take your time and absorb what is discussed in each chapter.

This is the holy grail for Blues Beginners!
I have had many books about the blues, but this was a breakthrough! It is perfect for you, if you know some basic pentatonics and want to really beginn to understand the 1-4-5 progression, chord changes and what to play in the right time! It really helps that the whole book and every example is in the key of A! (I don't know why any other book keeps changing keys every damn time.) This is thankfully not another lick compendium, but a real school book which if you study it an work with it really teaches you to play the blues! You will certainly not regret! If there were any other books by Ross Campbell i'd surely get it immediately!!!!!
