Fun way for a youngster to create great music
I bought it a gift for my pre-teen grand daughter - she loves how simple it is to make music by simply squeezing the Skoog. Using her iPad and the simple free apps makes it especially easy to use and quick to start playing great sounds.

Disappointing
Got this skoog for work, was hoping for good things but the sensitivity with the app was not as it should be. You have to press harder than I thought and sounds sometimes came even without pressing. A pricey piece of kit that I was sadly not that impressed with. However may be a useful sensory tool in SEND settings for initial noise making sessions when harder instruments may be a bit off putting at first.

Would highly recommend!
Bought as a gift for twin 8-year-olds. They love it. It's fun and educational and provides hours of entertainment that you can see children progress with. Well worth the price. Would highly recommend!

Company Needs to Help Troubleshoot More
This product has great potential as an access to music for students with severe disabilities and an inclusionary tool. When it works, the product is excellent. Life changing, even. However, I purchased one over a year ago through Mayer Johnson in the US. After countless hours over several months on the phone, exchanging emails, etc. with Mayer Johnson and the UK office with issues with Bluetooth connectivity, freezing, crashing, in general not working I finally sent an email to the company stating it was a waste of time and money. I literally spent 20+ frustrating hours trying to figure this thing out, believing it was my operational incompetence, that was the problem. It was only then that someone from the company realized that, maybe, there was a problem with the product and sent me a new one. Once I received the new unit, it fired right up and worked perfectly. My concern is not with the product. It works as advertised when it works. My issue is with how long it took the SKOOG company to figure out there was an issue with the device. The protocol to assist customers is generally to direct them to a website or YOuTube video. I needed support and was incredibly frustrated by my inability to get the thing running. I was in trouble with my supervisors for spending $300 on something that didn't work.As a busy speech language pathologist in a public US school, I don't have hours and hours of time to devote to getting technology to work. If you purchase this product, be very clear how much time you can devote to figuring it out and playing with it to determine its usefulness in your programs. Even though the device now works, the bitter taste of struggling with the defective one lingers. My suggestion to the company is to have a clear troubleshooting protocol in place for new customers. In the US, the device is sold by third party companies (such as Mayer Johnson) but is not supported by them. If the device doesn't work, contact the UK company immediately to determine if it is defective or not.

Great musical instrument for Children with additional needs
I use a Skoog in a special needs school. It has great uses with children across lots of different abilities. It is intuitive to play and intriguing to explore. The different instrument options allow children to make choices, which fit their preferences, and the additional apps such as Skratch allow children to record their own sounds. Which they love.Able children who may be less physically able to play a conventional instrument (due to decreased mobility or dextrous ability) but are able to understand how to play a tune love the way Skoog responds to their touch and allows them to play tunes using the inbuilt song book or using the Skores which are available online.Children who access the world in a sensory way enjoy the responsiveness of the Skoog, the robust design is ideal for children as they knock, press and hug the Skoog to activate the different sides. They can make lovely soundscapes and explore different sounds easily; whist adults can change the effects, octave, key and instrument from the app.The app is intuitive and simple enough for adults with little prior technical knowledge, the supporting tutorials are clear and concise and let you get up and running with it in a matter of minutes.
