solid, well constructed pack that doesn't fit me
I hated to pick a number for the rating and I ended up returning this pack. Read for why and how I picked the number.Pros:This pack is really well made. I couldn't find any faults here. The zippers are heavy duty. I've had to replace zippers on packs before but these are solid. I doubt they will ever fail. The buckles are all solid. They are at least 2x as thick if not more than some cheaper packs. You'd have to try to break one of those. The stitching is solid. I didn't see any weak attachment points or crappy construction. I've made some outdoor gear for rough use and also have repaired a moderate amount of outdoor gear. I have no doubt this pack will last. The seams inside are all covered so there are no raw fabric edges to fray over time. Also the ring on each shoulder strap are metal. I like being able to hang a water bottle one one side and a GPS on the other and these rings won't let you down. No weak nylon loop or plastic loop that may let you down in the field. All of the connection points for MOLLE are solid. This was a big part of what I was looking for because I have some things like a folding saw and antenna mast that are always a pain to attach on other pack styles. So why did I return a pack that is really well made? The short answer is it just doesn't fit me well. I'm 6', 160lbs. I spent some amount of time messing with the straps both while walking around and while standing in front of a mirror. I was never able to adjust for a comfortable fit with even a relatively light load. My conclusion is that the straps would work better on someone with a larger chest and broader shoulders than me. On me, the shoulder straps just won't lay flat on my shoulders but instead are turned in. The other thing I don't like is on this style of pack, especially this small one, the pack needs to ride quite high to get the shoulder straps where they need to go and that puts the waist buckle way high up. So if you are looking for the fit of a hip belt like on a backpacking backpack, this likely isn't the pack for you.In summary, it really is a great pack, it just doesn't work for me. I wish they had a pack like this built on the hip belt and frame of a standard backpacking pack.

T.H.E. Best Packs
This is my 3rd T.H.E. pack. 1st one bought in '02, 2nd in '03. Still have 'em. They've been on every deployment, vacation, and camping trip since. Carry handle broke on the 1st bag last year. This pack is a perfect size for a Get Home Bag. Very comfortable. Rides on my truck from now on.

Pricey but worth it
I got my first Spec Ops bag issued to me about 17yrs ago and it is still going strong. These thing are great quality and have a ton of room. I have bought multiple bags from this company now they do not disappoint.

High Quality, Very functional
I beat my packs to a pulp. This is the most durable pack I have ever owned. Very functional. I appreciate the bright interior, heavy duty zippers and ability to scrunch it down almost completely flat. Very versatile too. The buckles are not what you typically find on packs. They are very heavy duty and withstand being stepped on without cracking. Definitely worth the extra ounce in weight. No gimmicks on this pack. Just a simple, field-tested design. I use mine while out rock climbing and really like that i can horseshoe my rope over the top and secure it with the extra long compression straps.

A Very High Quality Pack
Full disclosure: I did not use this bag and returned it almost immediately. Nevertheless, I am more than comfortable giving it a rave review.I own several of the "regular sized" E.D.C. Packs by SpecOps. They have been absolute workhorses for me. Hence, I was eager to get my hands on the E.D.C. (smaller) Pack. Between having to carry a mobile phone everyday and then most days wanting some place to stow: a stocking cap; gloves; chapstick; a portable hard drive; documents; etc., I finally broke down and started carrying a man-purse (Sidebar: having to say "man-purse" and bear some level of shame in toting one around is ironic because men carried purses long before women, historically speaking). Unfortunately, it was just too much bag for such a use. In other words, I was not going to fill it to capacity, so it was just too rugged and heavy to justify taking with me everywhere. That said, if you are wanting a stout backpack that will possibly outlive you, do not hesitate to purchase this. SpecOps is a quality brand; probably the best out there in terms of packs.
