One of our cats took to it immediately
It took me more than three hours to assemble, but I'm a senior female and in no hurry. I did not use a power driver because I'm not skilled with it and it's heavy for me. I found that the little screwdriver that came with the kit was quite okay for the task, but of course much slower. I used a ratcheting screwdriver for the last few turns. Use the gloves that come with the kit or you will get a blister (Yes, I have evidence of this.). There are 115 screws to install (Plenty of extras were provided). It was a little challenging, but for me it's like a puzzle, especially when the instructions are less than wonderful and printed teeny. My husband offered to help but I shooed him away. I had a little uncertainty about which screws went where, but the information is there if you're willing to dig it out of the fine print and divergent English. Also, it's all logically designed and properly engineered to line up. The parts list omits the nuts that were provided for the underside of the long screws, but there wasn't any other place to put them, and they're pictured, sort of, with the rather cryptic wording. Basically, you use them with the wide part down against the wood. They provided a little wrench to hold them. If you overtighten anything both the plastic anchors for the wood screws as well as the metal seats for the machine screws will start to turn and they might not hold as well if that happens. This is another reason not to a power tool. My efforts were rewarded when one of our three cats took to it immediately. The kittens are about six months old, and the little calico, who is usually bold and adventurous, was reluctant to stay in it when it started to turn, but she watched the orange boy with interest and will probably come around later. I enticed them into it with a laser pointer. The boy kitty kept using the wheel after I put the pointer away. Our third cat is elderly and off snoozing somewhere. She hasn't seen the wheel yet. I will update later if there are new developments, but so far this has been worth the price and effort. This thing is surprisingly sturdy and quiet. I'm quite pleased with it overall. The only challenge I foresee is keeping the young grandchildren away from it. I plan to hide it when they visit. I wouldn't expect the wheels to support the weight of a child, but under normal use, I think it will be fine. Editing a few days later to say that the reluctant kitty is now the main user of the wheel.

Don't get the biggest one assuming you have a big cat
Wow - I got the large one, like 4' in diameter thinking that a smaller wheel would be difficult for the cat the walk on.It's truly huge, like a little wider and you could exercise your kid on it. Sure - it's noisy when it rolls but that's not an issue unless you anticipate your cat training for a marathon.I'm truly impressed by the build - it's designed quite well for what it has to be and I say that as an engineer. My hats off to the design team. The instructions are truly awful and others have said as much too. Don't let that worry you - this is not that difficult to assemble. Unless you enjoy callouses - get a cordless screwdriver with a GOOD bit.The velcro strips go on the outside edge, not towards the middle like I did.Lastly - don't traumatize your cat/s trying to get it to use it. Rub some catnip on it, otherwise let them figure it out.PS. If your cats refuse to use it - the wheel comes with a lock. Engage the lock, mount some shelves to it and turn it into a futuristic shelf for your library. I'm half-serious.

Good value. Tips for assembly.
Overall, this is a very good product. Assembly went well with extra pieces included for many parts. All the parts fit together well, and the XL wheel looks good and works well. Our two SBT Savannah cats weigh about 10 lbs each and enjoy running on wheel - no training required. So overall I'm happy with the wheel and especially the assembly which went better than expected: everything fit together perfectly. On the plus side, the parts bag includes gloves, sandpaper, and a screw driver - literally everything you need for assembly. The instructions are translated Chinese, but you can figure it out. Recommend watching a YouTube video of the assembly before starting. The brand doesn't matter and it doesn't have to be an exact match. The goal is to get a visual idea for how everything fits together before interpreting the instructions provided.I used the sandpaper to rough up / remove the varnish before gluing the velcro strips to the inside of the wheel. And I used the gloves to wipe off the sawdust :-) Once completed, use the sandpaper to smooth out the 6 wheel joints where they contact the rollers. Finally, know that the veneer finish (I got the XL natural wood) on the plywood pieces is low grade. It is fine for cats, but it has many dents and blemishes. You can minimize the visibility of these defects during construction to a degree by picking the side that will be visible. Also, the plywood edges are not varnished, so it's not elegant, it's adequate. In summary, I would recommend this as a starter wheel. It's a relatively inexpensive way to see if your animals will use it. It will certainly last a couple of years of use, if not more, with minor maintenance.

Kittens love it
My 12 week old kittens love the wheel. It is loud but very sturdy. My husband said it was not easy or quick to put together.

The cheap plastic roller bearings used make this item useless
I rated this product low but I am not returning it. I bought some inline skate wheels with good bearings and I think I can make it work like it should have worked in the first place. The other reviews here are true, the instructions are terrible, there are wrong numbers of fasteners (although there was enough of all of them with mine, just some extras). I had no idea what the small abrasive circle was until I read another review here. The wheel frame is sturdy enough but the treadwheel has some imperfections that should be smoothed (and 2 small chips in the wood that need wood filler and sanding. I would otherwise give this 3 maybe 4 stars, but there really is no excuse for the horrid plastic roller bearings.

Sturdy, comes with everything you need, assembly takes awhile
A large exercise cat wheel. Assembly took me about an hour and half, might have been because I was letting my cat sit on everything and I took a couple coffee breaks while building this thing. Instructions were simple but it was easy enough as long as you look carefully, all the parts are marked. The overall construction is pretty sturdy, the wheel stopper works great when you need it locked for whatever reason. When in use, it spins well, not too fast and with it's size my cat can get a good run. The carpet that's included is also really nice, so much so that my cat just likes sitting on it. It's pricey, but worth it, if you're someone who doesn't know if your cat will use it observe your cat first to see how much they like running around already and maybe even try a smaller cheaper one before making a commitment to this one

Good!
The media could not be loaded. It's great, easy to put together, my cat has already taken a high interest in it, he's just getting used to it :) My boy is a 13lb Bengal, and I got the XL wheel. I'd say it could be a bit bigger though, so that's the downfall. Its a bit noisy, but my house is echoey. Also, use an electric drill, it's much faster.

Cat loves it!
Quite a bit of work to put it together, but instructions are clear. My Bengal watched every step and as soon as it was finished, she jumped right on it. She's young and active anyway, but I wouldn't think an older or lazy cat would bother with it. Perfect for Bengals or other high energy breeds.Unit is strong, sturdy and quite quiet yet can be moved easily on a smooth floor. Very pleased with it.

Awesome wheel
This wheel is awesome. It turns smoothly and as quick as my cats can sprint! Both my cats, who are 9 years old, use this daily and nightly now, and it's not too loud at all.The instructions are missing some context, but it's easy to follow once you recognize which pieces are which (because they aren't labeled) and apply some common sense to see which way the pieces should face. There isn't much that needs a specific way to face besides the little wheels inside the base, and the wood piece which the lock attaches to.I was worried about the carpet perhaps not sticking well because the velcro is just applied with a sticky back, but as long as all the dust is removed from the surface before put on, it sticks incredibly well, even after my cats using the carpet as a scratch board.10/10

Awesome!
I have debated for so long to get a cat wheel or not, fearing my fur babies wouldn’t use it. I decided to go for it. It arrived fast and after figuring out the first few steps in putting it together it was actually fairly simple (instructions are a bit vague). I barely had it set up and both cats were all over it I had originally got it for my highly energetic Siamese which I used the laser pointer once to help him learn to use the wheel and when I turned around my other cat was on it running like he was in the olympics. They both use it several times a day and night now. It’s a very sturdy cat wheel and relatively quiet even when they are running full speed. I went with the large size just because they were sold out of the extra large. It’s big enough but would recommend getting the extra large if you can.
