Beach House debut
2007, Beach House by Beach House, a nine song debut album in CD format of this engaging duo of dream pop journey-folk. Victoria Legrand, erstwhile French citizen now in USA, partners Alex Scally. Master Of None has tremendous vibe and very slight echo on vocal as if recorded in a tiny room full of rugs and blackout curtains. The roots of later work reside here: elegaic moods, colour of music blue, green and purple; tristesse. Gaze at the stars and wonder, Beach House

Dreamy, haunting, relaxing
After hearing one song on the radio I bought Devotion and Teen Dream - both of which deserve five stars. This one is not far off the the same standard, so if you like the others you may want this one to complete the set.The sound is distinctive - mostly some very "slidy" slide guitar over a layer of keyboards, with Victoria Legrand singing over the top. Dreamy, haunting, relaxing but without being background music. There is a "hidden" track which doesn't do anything for me. ( What is the point of hidden tracks? )
