Yews with Caution (Flower Shop Mystery)

Nice cozy mystery
Abby and Marco Salvare are busy getting their new house in order, including planting shrubs they bought from a local landscaping company. When they have some issue they are frustrated that they can’t talk to the owner of the landscaping company who appears to be missing. While they are trying to deal with that, Abby’s best friend Nikki gets in touch with her – Nikki works with the owner’s wife and thinks she inadvertently may be part of a murder plot. Abby agrees to help Nikki but doesn’t realize how much this case may cost her and Marco.“Yews with Caution”, the nineteenth book in Kate Collins’ Flower Shop Cozy Mystery series, gets off to an interesting start and the action never lets down from the first few pages. I love the characters in this series – Abby, Marco, Lottie, Grace, Rosa (a great addition to the series!), Abby’s parents, her cousin Jillian – and it is great to see Nikki take a central role in this book (and I love the dynamics of the Abby/Nikki friendship in this book). For the most part, the mystery is a good one with plenty of tension (which I won’t spoil), plenty of suspects, and some nifty twists and turns. Unfortunately, I figured out one major twist early on. And the ending felt a bit rushed – there was a nice build up to the mystery but the solution/reasoning behind what was going on didn’t feel fully developed or satisfying to me. However, I really did enjoy most of the mystery.“Yews with Caution” is a nice cozy mystery in an enjoyable series.

Best Book in series
I love it when you get emotionally involved in a book and tears start flowing down your face because of the action of the main character. The people on train looking at you funny, but the other readers know that you just read something that tugged at your heart. Thank you Kate Collins for writing a wonderful story with my two favorite characters, Abby and Marco. The book: Yews with Caution, the 19th book in the "Flower Shop" which gets better and better like fine wine.

Abby saves the day!
The newest Flower Shop Mystery was worth the wait! I have not been disappointed with any of these books, but this might be her best so far. I enjoyed how the different characters were woven together in a logical manner. I've also enjoyed reading how her employees have been slowly becoming more a part of the stories. I always look forward to what her mother will bring to her shop next. I get a laugh from the reveal along with her persistent cousin Jillian.

This is the author that got me hooked on cozy mysteries, this is also book 19 of this series, and it's as good as all the rest...this series just keeps going and I couldn't be happier. If you haven't read this series yet, do yourself a favor and do, but please start with book 1...see if it doesn't get you on the road to reading cozies...I think it just might.
