Took a Bit
*******Later in the day 1/20/18 Lol. After my review I remembered that I somehow spent 33 years without a smart plug on my microwave and I can wait a couple of weeks until I get paid to buy a new one. I found one that’s got around the same rating, but it’s actually a pair you purchase. Less than $30. I’ll have it in my profile if you have the same problem with this product.****** 1/20/18- The struggle has ended. Something fun happened later in the day that I wrote my review. All of the sudden my devices were ALL unresponsive to Alexa. 3 different brands and types of plugs and none of them worked. I spent 4 hours talking to customer service trying to troubleshoot my Echo Dot, but everything was connected to WiFi and working. I could ask Alexa to do ANYTHING else. Just not the control of the devices from her. Never happened before. I could control everything from the apps of the products thank god. The LAST thing Alexa turned off and on was this plug. Hours later, no Alexa control for anything. I’m getting a new modem and hoping that helps? So this very reasonably priced object has now an extra price tag of $70. My bandwidth was large enough, but I was not getting the full strength of what I was paying for, I figured out during this process. And again, no resolution. So I’m desperate to have my PA back. It’s amazing how used to Alexa you get. I’ve had her for maybe 2 weeks? No problems whatsoever.Every time I want to control something, I turn to talk to her and remember she can’t control anything and get very sad. One big reason I liked her was I love that the remotes for my smart stuff are apps, but I use my phone for everything including more than one remote. So, it was nice to not have to choose one or the other in terms of my phone and controlling my objects. So, I deducted three stars. Because again, every single electronic (and I have A LOT) is working perfectly. My WiFi is great. I’m watching Netflix. Alexa does every single thing but my devices now. I will consider adding a star if the new modem works. It shouldn’t matter, because I was getting at least 100MBPS. But, we’ll see. Super super super bummed. I don’t want to return it because the price. Also, because I really needed it for my microwave. I would rather not go without it. Plus, I’m a little once bitten twice shy? Whatever the saying is. This whole huge thing is happening. It’s the evil I SORT of know. What might a replacement do? Turn off all my lights?I’ll update if something gives. Including if I find something better (I’ll just direct you to my profile). What will prob end up happening is I’ll receive the modem in 2 days and when I get paid, I’ll try order a different plug, but keep this one until I know the other is superior. :-( *******I struggled with whether to give the 5 stars because the connecting wasn’t a breeze. If I wasn’t so determined, I prob would have sent it back. Essentially after turning off and on the socket many many many times, connecting it to the app, naming it, de connecting it from the app, disabling the app, enabling the app, re connecting it to the app and renaming it again, we got there!!!But, for the price and the sheer cuteness/portability, it can’t be beat. If Amazon ever starts with half stars, I would give this 4 1/2.All in all, it was worth a little frustration and time. I was pairing the outlet with my Echo Dot. The app downloaded fine. But the issue was Alexa FINDING the socket. Eh, I would prob buy again. Next time I will prepare myself like a snack and a drink for connecting!

but this thing works great! Bought it to control my christmas tree lights ...
I was a little dubious, but this thing works great! Bought it to control my christmas tree lights and it was really nice. Normally I'd have to reach behind the tree (we put it in a corner) to turn it on, but with this we could just do it with my phone. There was virtually no latency, and it really worked well with Google Home.

Started out good, but didn't stay that way
Picked this up as part of the holiday deals because I just wanted to see if I could find a use for it and how well it works with Alexa. Initially I was very impressed and found the greatest advantage wasn't being able to use voice, but the scheduling ability was huge. I ended up putting it on my fish tank light so it would turn on and off daily without me needing to worry. Now for the bad news... the scheduling was working great. Then about a week ago I noticed the light wasn't turning off. I also noticed that when I physically push the power button it doesn't work. So now I have a DUMB socket that I can only turn on and off manually via the app or alexa. Disappointed, and have no idea why the physical button would have broke since I never used it ( besides my initial setup).I didn't want to spend the big bux for a name brand, so I got a cheaper knock off. It still "works" but I just have to remember to tell Alexa to turn it off and on.

Does work, but not as compatible as desired
First let me say this plug does function as specified on its own. And that’s good. And it’s inexpensive, which is also good. And it works well with Alexa, which is also good! However, it lacks real integration with other home automation systems. The IFTTT triggers rarely fire in a decent amount of time, and often take many minutes to work. This would be far better with a more direct integration, like the TP-Link system. So don’t hesitate to purchase it, if all you need is “Alexa, turn on the outlet”.If you’re going to use it with IFTTT, be certain that none of your needs require very fast operation.

Awesome smart plug - Christmas win!
This is one of the coolest things I've purchased in a while and quite possibly the BEST thing I added to our holiday decor. I used it to plug in the Christmas tree. I set it up with a timer (on/off at specific times) and connected it to our Google Home. So, I could either wait for the scheduled time for it to turn on, OR I could ask Google to turn on the Christmast tree. My kids thought I was a wizard. SO fantastic!

Works amazing with Alexa! So Convenient!
I have an Alexa echo dot. And this was a pretty easy set up with it. But you can use it with only your smart phone with the smart plug app. (I forgot the name but it is in the directions.) I love the smart plugs they're so convenient! Also, you can name them anything you want. So you can say "Alexa turn on the fan," instead of "Alexa turn on plug 1"

DO NOT RECOMMEND
Had the plugs for four months. On one of them, the light that should blink to indicate you are trying to pair the device with Smart Life stopped working. Was almost impossible to re-pair the smart plug when changing phones and routers/modems. Could not find a way to reset. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

Useless after a few months, 30 warranty tells you a lot
Bought two, worked for a while, now the button on the side of one no longer functions and the timer on the other doesn’t work. The warranty is 30 days. If that is the longest that they can stand behind a product that you are hoping to use for a long time, you need to keep looking.
