A must have for a commuter with harsh winters
As part of my commute to work, I now walk about .5 mile each way to the building outside. In pretty much all seasons but winter, it is fine. When it is 14 degrees and wind chill in the single digits, I have a hard time staying warm even bundled up in layers. I previously had the Zippo hand warmer that you needed to put lighter fluid in to use, but felt unsafe, and I ultimately didn't use it because of the smell and just uneasiness I felt. I saw they recently came out with a rechargable model, and instantly picked it up.This one is rated for up to 6 hours, and honestly I cannot attest to it lasting that long, as the longest I've used it is about 2 hours straight. I use it about 30-40 minutes a day and it is perfect inside my inside pocket of my jacket to keep my core warm. It has a few settings, and holds a steady temperature, which is plenty warm at the lowest setting! I really appreciate the build quality of this, and it feels like it should last for a long time.I charge it about 2 times a week and it never gets below half battery. It does have a very clear battery indicator on it, which is great, and the light will flash to indicate it is on, in case you find it on in your bag, though in order to turn it on you have to hold the power button for 5 seconds.Pros:- Easy to operate- Holds temperature very steady- Long battery life allows me to use it over the course of multiple days- Charges via MicroUSBCons- None that I have seen at this time.

Hand Warmer AND Phone Charger
This is a great little device to keep in your glove box, pocket, backpack, or purse to use as either a hand warmer or an extra battery to charge your phone. Of course, there's no sense in buying this purely as an external battery since it's more expensive than that kind of single purpose device, but I love that I can do either. I also have the nine-hour version, and while that feels better in my (small) hand and lasts longer, this one has the same capacity lithium ion battery. This one has dual-side heat only (with no single side option), but that's the only setting I use anyway. The heat output is great, with five settings. This hand warmer is not only great for camping or skiing but also for long walks during the winter. If you keep it in your glove box, remember to take it out occasionally to charge. The battery is built-in and rechargeable via included microUSB cable. If you have a phone with a different kind of power connector, make sure you also carry a short version of that for power transfer.-- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

First one defective, second one works great.
The first one I received I believe was damaged during shipping. It worked, but only half of the lights indicating power and heat level worked. I was unable to tell what power level it was on and if it was in fact off when I turned it off. The new one works as it should, and upon comparing the two, I noticed that the plastic lens for the lights was pushed in on the defective one.Anyway, the people complaining that this doesn't get warm enough must have dead, numb hands. I set the defective one down after I thought it was turned off (it wasn't but I couldn't tell since the lights were burned out) and it sat on a wood ledge for a half hour, maybe forty five minutes. It got warm enough that it actually softened the finish/shellac on the wood. If that isn't warm enough for you, something is wrong! Haha. All in all, this is a nice little hand warmer. I bought it for use in my cold office but will probably pick up another to use while hunting.

Great device, very useful!
Bought one for me to use while waiting at cold bus stops. Takes a while to heat up, but I use it on the highest setting and it helps break the chill. Small enough to put in a coat pocket. Also got one for my Dad because he is quite elderly and it's hard for him to get his hands warm enough for his glucose testing. He says it really helps him.

Consistent, reliable, long-lasting, great for hunting and camping, easy to use
I've ordered and used several different brands of rechargeable hand warmers from Amazon. So far these Zippo brand ones are the most reliable and longest lasting. Others do get hotter (dangerously hot for children), but Zippo's are the best overall by far. They easily fit into pockets, are durable, and last a long time. I often put one in a shirt pocket under layers, and it definitely helps keep my whole torso warm. If your 1st or 2nd layer of thermal pants or pants has a pocket, I recommend putting a second Zippo hand warmer there to keep your lower half warm, as well. If your fingers get cold, pull out one and quickly warm them up. I'm an avid outdoorsman and am frequently outside for extended periods of time in sub-freezing temperatures. If you need to rely on a rechargeable pocket-sized hand warmer, go with Zippo. They've proven to be my favorite choice so far, and I've used mine for years, as well as many other brands.

Pick this one...
Nice feeling, good quality product. It took about 30 min to fully charge out of the packaging. Heats right up when turned on. Intuitive to use. Great feel in the hand with the kidney bean shape. Middle setting feels like it should be plenty warm. High setting is almost too warm. Would absolutely buy this again.
