This thermometer has an attractive bright face and can be clearly read from at least 15 metres. The mechanism is a simple small metallic coil, connected to the indicator, which expands as the temperature rises and contracts when the temperature falls. The coil is exposed at the rear of the device so that it can quickly sense a temperature change. Accuracy appears good but I have not checked it out on very high or low temperatures. I have used it on the north face of a children’s playhouse where it a success story and good educationally with a Fahrenheit scale alongside the Celsius one. I suspect that I will have to clear out insect debris from the coil area from time to time. At the price this is a useful addition to any home or garden provided it’s not exposed to full sun which would give an inaccurate high reading.

The thermometer looked good, and was easy to read. Unfortunately it would not go below 10 degrees, even when mounted outside in December. Temperatures above 10 were accurately registered, but that's not much help!There were no instructions included in the package or any obvious means of adjusting the calibration, although as it seemed to hit a barrier at 10, this probably wouldn't have helped. I expect it is just a faulty item, and if there had been an option to have a replacement I would probably have taken this option. As it is, it's on its way back to Amazon......

Reads about 6 when it is actually freezing... but looks great.

Replacement fpr twenty year old unit brought back from USA. same size, same fixing as well, was able to mount straight away. Nice decorative gauge and easy to read from the other end of the garden. Good price, prompt delivry and well packaged.

Easy to read from inside the house. Very accurate as temperature goes up, so you can tell when it's too hot to take the dogs for a walk.BUT doesn't seem to then reduce as temperature drops therefore you don't know when it is safe.So you may be better with a boring, functional digital version (or just look up the temperature on your phone) - Hey Ho :-)

What a colourful item large and so easy to read from a distance ( and for people with bad eyesight.)yep it's all that but and it is a big but do not buy this if you want it to tell you the temperature ...... it's like a stopped watch right 2 times a day, only this is so wrong at the lower end and the upper end it makes for a great talking point, you know "how come the water is frozen with it being 18 ?? of I never thought it could get to 45 in England....shame as it is a pretty item.

Not a lot to dislike about it, it looks good, it's very accurate , and if you have it in direct sun light you will be amazed how high the temperature goes.

A very nice thermometer because it is so large and therefore can be used from a distance of several metres. It shows the temperature within 0.5 degrees Celsius from the value of our digital thermometer so it seems to be accurate enough. The back has some unprotected parts, so be careful not to damage those when unpacking, but it's not a problem when it is up on the wall.

Endlich mal ein wirklich großes Thermometer, gut Qualität und Funktion

Die große Anzeige hatte es uns sehr angetan. Das war der Hauptgrund zum Erwerb.Kontra:- Das innere Bild bleibt nicht so schön, wie es zu Beginn aussah. Es vergilbt nach nicht mal einem Sommer stark.- Das Loch zur Aufhängung ist nicht optimal gelöst. Starker Wind führte dazu, dass es stabilisiert werden musste.Pro:+ Das Thermometer ist auf eine Entfernung von 5 bis 10 Metern auch für Senioren gut ablesbar.+ Die Temperatur ist annähernd genau.Für den Preis von um die 20 Euro erfüllt es seinen Zweck, ist allerdings nicht mehr ansehnlich. Nochmal würde ich es nicht kaufen.
