8-port HDMI KVM switch with flaws
Product does broadly what it says on the box, but with some caveats. Never had any of the following problems with previous USB-based KVM switches from other vendors.(a) Both the mouse and the keyboard input inputs can be erratic. Mouse cursor position can suddenly jump on the screen (without any actual movement of the physical mouse, or a different movement than on the screen), and keystrokes sometimes get lost (i.e., missing letters, indicated by [m]issing) or repeated as in thisssssssssss.(b) Toggle keys such as CapsLock and NumLock sometimes work erratically and might require several key presses in quick succession to switch on or off, and their status light indicators are sometimes out of sync with the actual state of the toggle key. Occasionally all the status lights come on for no apparent reason. (The ScrLock key is special and is used to switch between ports from the keyboard.)(c) The KVM switch behaves and presents itself as a generic USB keyboard and generic USB mouse to the connected systems. This means, among other things, that multimedia keys and Windows special function keys are not passed through and do not function. For example, volume +/- and all the Play/Pause, Forward, Back buttons no longer work. Again, previous KVM switches (from a different manufacturer) had no such issues and could even be switched from Windddddddddddddddddows (oops -- keyboard again!) to Macintosh compatibility. The WinLogo keys and context menu keys do work, but that's about all apart from the basic 102 keyset.(d) The beeping when switching from one input channel to another is annoyingly loud and cannot be switched off or turned low.Video pass-through seems OK at 1920x1200, [a]nd the main reason to keep the switch is that it's the only one that I could find that switches 8 HDMI video ports (as [o]pposed to DVI or VGA). It's a bit of a pain otherwise.

Gentlen - HDMI KVM Switch - What a brilliant and well made piece of electronics
This the third KVM switch I have bought over the last twelve years and this Gentlen version is just superb. The quality is simply top league for a 4 computer KVM switch and is well engineered, of a high quality and finish. Another factor in regard to the unit is the size and this is easily portable and does not occupy a great deal of space. The size is ideal and is not too big nor too small and certainly suits my limited work surface. I use three computers and a laptop with three screens and now thanks to this wonderful piece of electronics have one screen linked to four computers. The KVM switch comes with all the leads required to attach up to four computers along with its own power supply. Being a KVM switch you can also add your own keyboard and mouse and use these to run all computers. I am extremely pleased with both the build and functionality of this unit and have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone interested in purchasing or requiring this type of switch. I am pleased to say, this Gentlen switch, has been one of my best buys ever. The functionality included in this unit will also allow one to set up with your soundcard, although I have not used this so cannot comment on this. The small instruction leaflet that comes with the unit gives all the necessary information in a simple and easy way on how to set the unit up. The only item you might need to supply would be an additional HDMI cable to link the unit to the screen.

Does what it says on the tin
It does what it says on the tin.Connect USB devices and HDMI video sources, press the button and it switches source. The box contains 4xHDMI-HDMI cables, 4xUSB A-B cables, 1xUK PSU, 1xEU PSU, 1xUSB mouse, 1xCD and one generic manual. Note that you may end up with a lot of spare cables if you buy your own as well. I did contact the vendor and ask about the cables and was told it does not contain any, but it clearly does! Good job I only bought a few cables at the same time, and the cheapest I could find.DP device via HDMI to DVI-D display switching works fine.DVI-D device via HDMI to DVI-D display switching works fine.HDMI device via HDMI to DVI-D display switching works fine.I've not tried it with a HDMI screen but I'm assuming that works okay.USB features on the mouse like scroll wheel work okay. Logitech wireless mouse works okay too.Needs a hard reboot now and then but no more often than every few months.

GET THIS ONE!
Glad I got this one, bought for personal use, although I have often bought KVMs for businesses with varying degrees of success.Comes with all the cables you will need (assuming you have USB KB and mouse, and HDMI monitors) otherwise you may need adapters. I have bought a few in the past that came with no cables or had VGA ports...seriously who uses VGA anymore, thats clearly old stock, beware while shopping) but this one is sweet. reading the negative reviews they seem to be all cases where people have got faulty devices, and common sense dictates that you dont review a faulty device unless youve had several and theyre consistently faulty.Mine worked seamlessly. easy to switch between my laptop and home PC...sturdy box, not some flakey plasticy thing that keeps getting dragged by the weight of the table, another annoyance when you have to pull the thing up by the cables with lower quality products)Green LEDs tell you you have a live connection to your computers, amber one switches between them to show which one is your active connection.I recommend you'd pay that for the cables alone when you get stung with other kits!!

Nice little box; very easy to set up & use
Bought this to replace an ageing VGA-socketed two-device switch, because I now have 3 devices all with HDMI. All cables supplied, and took just a few minutes to set up & get working. I find switching is instant (no lag) between devices (note: all are Windows-based; no Apple).Only very mild criticism is that the colours of the status LEDs are counter-intuitive. Each device which is available shows up as Green, whilst the one in use shows Amber. To my mind this should be the other way round, i.e. the one in use should show GREEN. Manufacturer; please note !
