First off dont believe the negative feedback ,lve been cooking for 25 years I've used all kinds of knive s .these knives are full tang and razor sharp out the case! They dont weigh a ton they weigh alittle over 19 pounds after you carry them a week hardly noticeable.yes they say china but many companies have China do the work for them they have the German name and made by there standards doesn't matter where.you can chop down a full tree with the 5 lb meat clever no joke! I did famous paper test and sliced through that paper like a japanese sword .the case is worth the price by its self .as I walked to work I could see people staring at me and the case.maybe they thought i was a sniper.who know cause case looks like a rifle case.super cool! Must by for any chef not just starter my boss worked with bobby flay and even he was impressed when i came to work with these knives .for the price where robbing them the knives are well worth $400.00 some other sites sell them for $300.00 so stop compairing you wont find a better deal than this thank you Amazon best purchase yet!

First off, Slitzer produces Quality no matter where their manufacturing facilities reside at. Their quality control is the exact same used through out the world and is not like you are buying electronics of unknown materials. This set is an excellent bargain for what you are getting (21 greatly made pieces) at the same exact quality known from Slitzer. Mine were pretty sharp from the get go, but for those who find them a bit "dull" keep in mind that most new knives always tend to be slightly under sharpened from factory (unless you buying a Honyaki or the likes at their astronomical price). That is the reason they provide you with an 11 inch +/- 61 HRC knife sharpener to sharpen them up at the level of your desire. If that is not good enough, well, get yourself a Japanese wet stone that way you can split hairs with them, but slicing to paper was a good enough test for me...IMO.

Bought this set in 2012 for culinary school. Still use them in 2019 and they are still in great condition! A little larger than expected but still good

Aside from the large metal briefcase that looks as if you're planning an assassination these are a decent set of knives for the price. Fairly light weight plastic handles do feel a touch flimsy and the blades themselves are not incredibly sharp, but again for the novice or otherwise non-professional chef these are hardly concerns - certainly given the price point. If your concern is durability I would likely look elsewhere; indeed the knives themselves do their job and no problems have yet arisen however they do occasionally feel (as well as look) relatively cheap. The only other minor complaint would be the sort of unnecessary items that come with it. While it is great to find a set of knives with a 10" chef knife, cleaver, and what could otherwise be described a machete - I certainly did not need the included potato peeler. A fine product though all-in-all though; likely worth the capital.

This was a gift for someone. A cook. I was really impressed. Its crazy heavy. Like i couldnt even belive how heavy. The blades were well made and the knives were sharp. It was an impressive gift. I was skeptical because of the cost but it was well worth it.

I did not like the set at all when it arrived. Too big and bulky. Not a good gift for a chef. More for a butcher. I tried to return because it says free returns and the seller will not pay for the return so it’s false advertising. Now I have to pay for the return not satisfied at all. Will never buy from them again.

It was my boyfriends and my first anniversary. I didn't know what to get him, so I started thinking about what he likes. He's a chef and I thought what would be more perfect than a knife set. When he saw that knife set, his eyes lit up like a kid getting his first bike. He loved it so much and constantly thanks me. He said it was the perfect gift and its a beautiful set. I rated this product 5 stars because the case was nice, the knife set was nice, and he fell in love with it instantly. My advice would be to give this as a gift to someone who just loves to cook.

These knives are just awsome way more then what i expected for 112$ these knives are very well crafted handles are great. Me being a cheff would recommend these for any students and cheffs looking for a good set of knives. Ive bought a 300$ set of knives and these are way better in many ways and i got way more in this set then in my 300$ set. Dont listen to any bad reviews on these knives fast shipping awsome quality. The ones that complain must be use to there cheap walmart brand knives and not a real true knive set. Yes there assembled in china but great german steal all around.
