I love "fun" lightbulbs. From blacklight to plasma ball to stained glass bulbs, I've had a number over the years. I really like this one. First of all it uses LED, so I'm hopeful the elements will last. It should work with most lamps and light sockets, simple remove any shade, the regular bulb and install The Northern International Party Bulb. It really is light a 70's disco light with the rotation and the colors going everywhere. It casts a wide arch and is fairly bright, but looks best when it is the only light (fog machine a plus). I don't think it would work as well from a downward facing socket, but I've yet to try it. Best of all, it is nearly silent, so you can have it going in a quiet room as "mood lighting". Leave it and some music on while you are out away and anyone passing by will think there's a party going on!The one thing I'd say is a slight drawback is it's size. It takes up a lot of space and gets wide quickly at the base. This may keep it from being used in some lamps. Also, you'd need to have a special lamp shade with a tall connection to have this running under the shade. It doesn't fit under any of the lamp shades of the lights in my home, but you get more of the effect with the shade off anyway. That is just something to keep in mind and is by no means a reason to knock off a star since I knew about the bulb's size beforehand.This a cool light and great for a party or for anyone who is into eclectic lighting. Even my wife's parents (in their 70s and 80s) think it is cool. Our kids too, and it takes a lot to impress them. We rarely host parties at my house, but I was very interested in trying out Northern International's LED Rotating Party Bulb and it certainly did not disappoint!Out of the box, there is no assembly required and it will screw into any normal household light socket. At 6.2" in length and 3.2" in diameter, it is almost 2" longer and 1" wider than the standard bulb (which are app. 4.4" in length and 2.4" in diameter) so there may be some fixtures that it won't work in. I installed the bulb in an overhead can fixture that usually takes a flood lamp so neither the length nor diameter were an issue.In operation, the bulb has three very bright LED's in it (red, blue, and green) with a faceted globe over the top. Once you put the bulb in the socket and turn on the fixture, the globe rotates which sends red, blue, and green lights dancing all over your room. Because of the brightness of the LED's, additional lighting is not needed as this bulb entirely lights up a room. Due to it being the Christmas season, I thought that this bulb would be a perfect decoration and my daughters absolutely love it!Overall, I couldn't be happier with Northern International's LED Rotating Party Bulb. It is very easy to use and the light output is very good! Currently the bulb is not for sale so I cannot comment on the sale price, but I will edit this review when it is.

Mine didn't work. It doesn't spin but instead just displays a pattern of red, blue, and green lights on the wall. Disappointing but I got it free through vine so not a total loss.

Good features:*Simple to install in any standard 120V (E27, 27mm) light bulb socket.*Switch on the light for a spinning red, blue, and green disco lights effect that coordinates well with most musical beats.*Can fit in most overhead and standard light fixtures' bulb sockets and fill most rooms with spinning lights depending the positioning of the LED bulb.*Our kids enjoy it for their birthday parties and it creates a nice dance floor in our rec room for any party occasion.Recommended improvement:*This is a fairly big bulb measuring 3.15" (8cm) diameter and 6.2" (15.74cm) length. A smaller bulb would fit in more light fixtures.

The Northern International rotating LED party light consists of three super bright LED that rotate under a multifaceted dome. Actual installation is as easy as screwing in a light bulb. For this user, it fit in a number of lamps, including overhead canned lights. It is either one or off (no dimming or other features--when dimming was tried the light went into a strange twilight strobe effect that could not have been good for it?). When it is on, the amount of light and color was brilliant and a bit surprising. The pattern is probably best described as a simple kaleidoscope with three colors and while it is directed about 180 degrees outward it appears more restricted if viewing on the ceiling at about 45 degree total view (for about 5-6 feet up). In canned lights the circle of rotating light is about 3 feet. It does not get hot with use. Again, surprisingly bright.My only regret is that this item appears to be unavailable--so while I did get one to review from Amazon--I wanted a couple more! That has to be the best endorsement ever?! If you can get one, get two!

I got this and placed it into a lamp and the party started. The kids went nuts, broke out the karaoke and went to town. This is going to be great for my daughter's birthday party! It is better than a disco ball, and functions similarly. It is bright enough to light up a room and keep the party jumping....and fun enough to keep the kids dancing.This is longer and wider than a regular bulb, and so may not fit in every socket. With that said, the plastic globe rotates and sends lights everywhere. Perfect for the holidays (Christmas). The colors are great! It is also great for creating movement if you are out and you want people to think that the house is not empty. Put it on a timer for even more deception.
