I’ve been after one of these novelty tanks for a while now. There’s so many to choose from with varying reviews, so I’ve not got around to it. When the opportunity came up to review one however, I jumped at it.The tank is solidly built and all the electronics/motors/lights are all housed in that top black part. That creates some pros and cons. Some of the pros are that there’s less to go wrong, it’s self-contained, and the best part is that it either runs off USB (Lead and adapter supplied) OR it can also run off 3x AA batteries – which is the way I’ve set it up.One con is that you have to fill the water to a line at the very top. Then that top section actually dips into the water. This means that if you have to remove that lid, you’re better off doing over a sink, because it leaks water every time. Once the lid is back on, there’s no water spillage at all.Setup was easy – fill with water (you’re supposed to add distilled, but I didn’t have any to hand for this review) then add a few drops of detergent. And then it’s ready for the jellyfish.There’s a few different colours of lights and the motor only runs in short bursts. I’m waiting for all the air bubbles to escape, but it’s already starting to work.Overall, a real fun novelty tank.Note: The manufacturer kindly provided a sample (or at a reduced cost) for me to test.
