Nostalgic Blast from the Past
It's been a LONG time since I've picked up a Goosebumps book! R.L. Stine was my introduction into horror. He gave me my first nightmares as a kid! I was so thrilled to be picked to read the newest installment in his Goosebumps House of Shivers series.Mario goes on a vacation with his friends Jewel and Todd to Vermont on their annual family holiday trip. At first things are perfect, but then...they get...weird...when he discovers actual goblins living in the backyard of Jewel and Todd's grandparent's house!I haven't read a children's book in YEARS...and this was very good from what I can remember about the original Goosebumps stories. It was definitely creepy at times, and even a little gorier than I expected it to be, but it was still cute. There were some good little plot twists I didn't see coming, but in hindsight I should have picked up on some things. It was a quick read, and if I have kids one day I hope they enjoy horror because I would love to read these books with them. Very nostalgic, and a fun, creepy read.

good read
Goblin Monday is the 2nd book in the House of Shivers series, and I am happy to see R.L Stine starting up a new fun and creative (but still with the Goosebumps vibe) series.Loved this book and was so happy to read it. I am a huge R.L. Stine fan and have been for many many many years. I am an adult now but I still love to read the new books by him. I enjoy that it brings me back to my kid days.Main character- Mario. From Florida and never seen snow this trip will be his time to see snow and a bunch of other things, some things he might not want to even know about or maybe he does.....He goes on this trip with his friends (Todd & Jewel). Now let's talk about the family that they are going to visit, Grandpa Tweety and Mom Mom (Grandma) they are a bit odd, but funny and entertaining. Tweety is full of so many outlandish stories that he says are true but they can't be.... right?!?!?!I loved the way that the Goblins (and a few other creatures) we introduced in this book, lots of fun and mysterious. This book was such a quick read for me because I couldn't put it down and had to know what was gonna happen next. Def keeps your attention and draws you in.And the ending was a classic R.L. Stine oneGo read it!!!! :)Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book. The above is my honest review, which is voluntary.

Just as nostalgic as the original Goosebumps!
Let me tell you, this new Goosebumps story did not disappoint! It was fast paced, full of twists, and sooo creepy. What a spooky adventure full of nostalgia but with a new story! 😍 I loved the winter snowstorm setting, it definitely helped set the mood. Also, who doesn’t love creepy Grandparents? 🤭😮💨I highly recommend grabbing a copy of Goblin Monday and enjoying a new Goosebumps story!

Eerie Fun & Horror For Kids
Goblin Monday is such a fun read. I was surprised by the descriptions of certain things that led to the intensity of the fear. It made me laugh and cringe in anticipation. My jaw dropped at least once and I know I said “eww” aloud on a couple occasions. never read R.L. Stine books as a kid and now I feel like I missed out!

Will appeal to more than just kids.
Mario is going to enjoy his first experience with snow when his friends Todd and Jewel bring him along on their family vacation to visit their grandparents in Vermont. When they arrive, Mario soon learns the Grandpa Tweety and Grandma MomMom are quite eccentric. Grandpa Tweety loves his birds and spins yarns about goblins, imps and gremlins. He's even written books about them. MomMom loves making stews and sews strange outfits. But the real horror begins when Mario finds that the fairy tales may not be made up stories after all.Once again, Stine has brought a modern sensibility to his Goosebumps tales. These are not the stories of the 90. Goblin Monday was more intense and had some much more graphic scenes than were ever in the older Stine books. Though towards the end there was a bit of real silliness, this was definitely a tale that will appeal to more than just kids.

Excellent
Mario has been invited to spend winter break with his friends Todd and Jewel on their family vacation in Vermont. He is told that their grandfather is a little odd. Mario is excited to go as he has never experienced snow. When he meets the grandparents, he is aware of how short they are. He enjoys the meals that Grandma makes even though Grandma always wants to have them sing with her even though the songs are unknown to him. Grandfather tells great stories in the evenings about trolls, goblins and elves. Mario wonders if these creatures are real. While outside with Todd and Jewel, he is sure that he has seen a goblin but no one believes him. Mario doesn’t why they don’t believe him. He decides that he will catch one to prove that he did see a goblin. Will Mario catch a goblin? This is a fun and scary story to enjoy. Stine has written a new series of Goosebumps. He has done an excellent job. There is suspense and mystery with a little horror included. It’s a book not to be missed.Disclaimer: I received an arc of this book from the author/publisher from Netgalley. I wasn’t obligated to write a favorable review.
