Mookie Classic Swingball

I was hoping to relive the Zim Zam days but this item fails to live up to it. I'm guessing the stake to go in the group isn't as sharp due to people getting hurt but the plastic circle the string is suppose to swing around is a joke! It definitely needs to be a metal circle that twists for about 3" and the string circles the wire. also there isn't enough pedal to step on when placing it in the ground. DON'T BUY! IT DOES'NT WORK!

I bought this for my 3 and 5 year old, but I find myself saying "no, it's just Mommy's turn." I can't get enough of swacking that ball back and forth by myself! It's a great stress reliever. And oh, the satisfaction of hearing the "thwack" every time the paddle hits the ball. The paddles are super cool - a double checkerboard design that lets air pass through but has real heft in hitting the tennis ball. And I haven't broken the ball off the string yet either!I would buy this game again in a heartbeat, but my only complaint is the metal foot on the bottom for standing on and shoving the pole in the ground. My feet slip off frequently and ankles get scraped as they fall down. The footing needs to be much wider.

I grew up with Zim-Zam and love it, so I was happy to find this game. I chose this version because of the ground stake, because I thought it would be more stable than the version with the base that you fill with water or sand. I would have liked the ground stake to be longer, thinner, and pointier, and I would have liked a wider 'step' on the stake for pushing it into the ground. I think that would have made the pole more stable. My pole ended up being a little floppy (even after several tries) -- which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. But the pole was still plenty stable for a 5 year old to happily whack at the ball for hours. Overall, I am happy with this purchase. Also, I should mention that I had no trouble connecting the 3 separate pieces of the pole together, and I really like that there is a hanging hook for the paddles on the pole itself, so they don't get lost.

This is so wonderful and fun! Our whole family spent hours just playing and laughing. It is popular in the UK, but we got it in the U.S.. Shipping was fast and nothing was broken. It is for two players only, but you can have judges and substitutes to make it more fun for friends and family. You can also play it on your own, too. When you stake this, remember that it is NOT PERMANENT. Drive it as deep into the ground as you can, or it'll shift around in the ground with every swing.Remember to not leave it in the rain or it will get rusty and the ball will get heavy and it will take forever to dry.All in all, a very fun and exciting new toy for everyone to enjoy!

Got this for our boy's birthday (just turned 7). We have it in the yard and he enjoys it a lot. Ok for grownups too (at least to share the game with kids--probably would need to be slightly bigger if only used by grownups). Good quality plastic racquets. Not as wobbly as I thought it would be

We've had this for about 4 months. We purchased it for my 10 year old son and he uses it often. It's survived being outside in the winter and in the snow even. My son will go out and play it by himself for long periods of time. We also have a 7 yr old and 5 yr old and they enjoy it too. This is especially good for a kid to play on their own just hitting the ball back and forth.

I got this for my 10 yr old niece and 8 year old nephew to play. I loved this game when I was a kid, and they seemto enjoy it as much as I did. A great gift. Adults have fun with it,too. Glad their dog leaves it alone- that was my only concern. They do sell replacement balls on the cord if something does happen to this one.

This was a childhood favorite for me that I would play when I would visit my grandparents in England. This is the best swingball set I have found so far. My whole family has been enjoying hours of fun playing!

Fabulous!!! Bought one years ago but it was useless plastic with a silly base.This is the original with a spike to go in the ground, just like I had 30 years ago!Strong and excellent fun!!! Our 13 year old daughter and even 15 year old son love it! It helps if you play with them and I'm VERY competitive lol.Would recommend and buy again if we wear it out!!!

Seems well-made and sturdy. Comes in a plain cardboard box. A few things to note: the yellow bat holders get in the way so place on the lower joint and not where suggested. As another person suggested, a small plank with a hole in the centre placed over the spike before assembling the rest of the item helps to put it in the ground as you can then stand on the board in the manner of a pogo stick rather than trying to force it in by hand. The yellow spiral at the top is not as effective as the original metal track but works well. The plastic thing to help shorten the string is annoying but does its best. Bats are very good. Lots of fun so far in the garden and no kids have had their teeth knocked out.

I really love exercising and having fun simultaneously with this Swingball set. It's easy to assemble and easy to insert into the grass so can be positioned anywhere with minimal effort and fuss. I like how the sturdy bats have their own little holding hooks. Just a tip, after a bout of heavy rain I did spray my set with some lubricant to help prevent any potential rust in the joints.

Good quality set. Much better than the "My First Swingball" we bought our daughter a few years ago. Very robust, good instructions and can see it lasting for years.Had hours of fun playing this with the children and my brother-in-law.1 star off as the colour of the set was not like the pictures on amazon.co.uk. The bats are yellow and the swingball poles are red, which is a bit more jarring in the garden compared to cool blue colour in the photos.

Very easy to assemble and everything seems to be of good quality. The only downside is on our part as there is obviously some hardcore under the lawn so the spike wasn't able to be inserted fully, however this did not stop play. Teenagers outside = happy parents. Result!
