Good Read, but some
Major (to me at least) problems. A tunnel with one entrance. Has to be a cave?! What about a mineshaft? What about a pothole? What about an oubliette? Granted, some of these can have more than one door, but also these can get blocked - anyway, despite “Sam’s nod”, I was not convinced. It got worse - ten-ish found, pins in map, passed around cave details, access from car parks. No discussion - “I’m drawn to this one,” Bob said. Then comes the extremely short discussion, all set off! And she’s there. Sorry, but my ‘willing suspension of disbelief’ just vanished there! Next point, when they visit a restaurant obviously ‘Nouvelle Cuisine’ and Bob mentioned he’d finished up with fish’n’chips afterward, and that he always had to eat again after Chinese (very common). The restaurant employee had obviously heard it all before and wasn’t offended - Sam? “warning him to keep his trap shut or face disciplinary action”. That is just bullying, and I thought Bob was her ‘partner’, i.e. equal rank? If she hasn’t been poisonous to him in front of other people, I’d be surprised, and after this, ““Okay, keep your Y-fronts on, if you wear them,” Sam replied. The retort had Bob fuming but made Suzanna chuckle.” Sexist demeaning remarks in front of a ‘junior’(?) rank? I have been increasingly annoyed by their ‘banter’, but this went too far.

Book 9 in the DISam Cobb Series.
This is another brilliant novel in this wonderful series. Like all Mel Comley’s novels I couldn’t put it down,. DI Sam Cobb and her partner Rhys went to Trinity Park to walk their two dogs Sonny and Casper, she heard a dog barking and went to investigate. When she saw the dog she recognised her as Mimi one of the dogs she saw regularly and came across a women’s body, who she realised was still alive at that point. Things take a sinister turn .. I do not want to give anything away as I feel it spoils the novel for the reader. I highly recommend this novel. Mel Comley is a brilliant crime writer and never disappoints, if you have never read any of her many novels give yourself a treat and I guarantee it will be the first of many xxx
