Road Warrior
Let me ask you a quick question: is there anything more sickly, nastily vulnerable than a guy and his chick, strangers in a strange land, driving through the night-gaunt countryside in a really unreliable car? It's not so bad by day, of course, but my God, don't those windows feel big and black and cold and exposed when the hungry darkness comes rolling off the fields and empty spaces, presses its hungry mouth up close to the lips of your beloved? So what it boils down to is this: British co-eds Liz and Kristy hook up with laconic but friendly Aussie Ben, and head out across the sere and empty Australian outback for a chummy road trip into the guts of the country's vast, unpeopled interior. So they party, they drink a little too much, they laugh, they flirt, they tell jokes and make plans. The object of their pilgrimage, and their curiosity, is Wolf Creek National Park, the site of a massive crater pounded into the otherwise freakishly featureless flat plain, the result of a massive meteor impact hundreds of thousands of years before."Wonder why the meteor hit here, and nowhere else?" muses Liz, idly considering the rainswept crater with its dwarfish forest far below. Why, indeed.Maybe for no reason at all. Maybe. Or maybe, as Ben suggests, "maybe it was drawn to something in the Earth".Maybe so.So when our trio get back to their car and discover that it won't start, and their watches have all stopped, and Wolf Creek is rich in tales of drooling terrors drawn from the Stars to this wild haunt of inky darkness---and you start to wonder if our gang isn't about to have a Close Encounter of the Third Kind. And as those lights in the distance, jouncing roughly just above the ground, draw closer---well, turns out aliens are the least of the kids' worries. They're about to have a Close Encounter, alright: a Close Encounter of the Worst Kind.Greg McLean---with only one other indie short to his credit---has captured, on HD digital video and on a shoestring budget, nothing less than the naked, hungry face of Abject Terror.McLean is particularly impish in the way he conjures up his hellish little landscape of death, cruelty, and carnage: the fiend our heroes encounter (John Jarratt, who owns every inch of his role and chews up the scenery and the tourists with equal aplomb) is the very worst sort of predator, one with zero mercy, ferociously cunning, one that hides its black oozing malice beneath a rube's jowly flesh and easy smile.Oh, and did I mention this guy really likes to hunt?McLean has crafted a very precise, clinically merciless, gorgeous-looking monster of a film: it is depraved, and ruthless, and banal, bleak, and nihilistic. It asks no quarter, and in return offers none.It will instantly polarize: you'll be transfixed or repulsed, or both: McLean knows how to find a nasty, fleshy, spongy wound of horror, and poke it, prod it, and then tear it open. Part of the film's pungent, deadly ability to horrify stems, I think, from McLean's decision to contrast the frail mortality of his protagonists against the hard, seamy, craggy infinity of their ancient surroundings.Part of it, no doubt, is the way he makes us voyeurs: we don't want to watch, but we can't look away. And part of it, I'm certain, is the way in which the voyeur ultimately gets served up as victim. And there are, "Wolf Creek" proves, far, far worse fates than death.Watches stopped? Darkness pressed up against the windshield? Lights in the distance, bouncing peculiarly, against the horizon?I'd hope it's aliens, if I were you.JSG

Only a Movie.
I saw this film in the theatre during its brief holiday run and was quite impressed with its gritty realism. It does attain a certain air of verisimilitude due to the time invested in character development and the skill of the young actors involved. Of course, this enhances the full-throttle horror which we know is on its way. Yes, the depiction of sadistic madness is most chilling, and we are certainly caught up in this trip through utter insanity. But when all is said and done, we who are in our right senses realize that this is only a movie, and that nobody actually got hurt during the shocking scenes that we have viewed on the screen. There are those, however, for whom the lines between reality and fiction become blurred. These are the folks who wish to level the usual hysterical charges at fans of this film. You know, that we watch this film in the same way that we would have enjoyed watching Black people being lynched [!] back in the bad old days. What this homicidal maniac does to his hapless victims is even equated, by some, to a woman being able to legally avail herself of an abortion! Of course, our parents enjoyed seeing Psycho in the theatres of their youth because they all related to Norman and wished they could stab people repeatedly like he did. The sanctimonious ones who express these puerile notions only viewed this film in a high-minded effort to understand the level of depravity to which the rest of us have sunk; they were certainly not there to be entertained. They are above all that.In any event, I would recommend this frightfest to those who enjoy their horror straight-up, and are still able to discern fact from fiction.

Wolf Creek movies series are one heckuva ride! So buckle up!
I really loved the movies and the series both to this movie! It’s based on the true story of a serial killer who was very hard to catch, largely to his brilliant madness, and his harsh, and very isolated home in the Outback, which has a special significance to him , which you will learn about in the movie and series. I can tell you it’s very well made and the acting is great! So, it’s NOT some low budget movie. I’m very picky about the horror and suspense movies I do watch and very rarely will I spend money on them but Wolf creek movies and series were well worth the price! I’ll put it to you like this, I watched them well over a year ago and their still with me! So, I hope this will help you all make your decision about renting these, they don’t cost much and there both so worth it!! They keep you on your toes from beginning to end. It’s a crazy ride but once you start watching, you just can’t stop!

NOTHING TO BE SCARED OF BUT STILL THERE WAS SOMETHING (if any)
It took some time to purchase this DVD since it was out of stock.I waited till it is in stock but it never was.So I boutght the second hand one. It took me almost 1 months and some. The new one is about 6.95$ and the second hand one was about 4$. I worried a lot buying the second hand one but it was ok. The art work and the DVD itself was just fine playing well. But the movie itself, the result was pretty much unsatisfied. It was not even closer to TEXAS CHAINSAW,... movie. The psycopath in this film who kills a bunch of people was too weak to make this film scary. Although he did some wickid things to main charactors but I kind of felt that the special effects were not so real and the man himself has no killer charisma. The only one I truely loved about this film was the shots of beautiful desserted nature in Australia. At the same time, it was the nature that made me think that I want this movie to be finished as soon as possible because it is nightmare seeing the main charactors facing the deserted nature barefeet nothing in the pocket, nowhere to go. I felt that I am lucky that I am at my home with comfort watching this film with warm cup of tea. That's the only pleasure thing that this movie made me. Usually at night, desert becomes quite cold and three charactors doesn't have socks or shoes when they tried to escape.

On y croit vraiment !
